Cultural/Government Exchange Subcommittee Commissioner Jackie Filbeck reported the trip to Mito with the outbound students was a great cultural experience. They were all treated exceptionally well and the students were great. They went to the beach and visited Tokyo by train. They had a tea ceremony and toured a lot of schools. She found the cultures to be very different. As an example, the schools do not have any custodial help, the students do it all, they clean the bathrooms, they scrub and mop the floors, they cook the food and they clean it all up. Commissioner Filbeck thanked everyone for the opportunity. Commissioner Filbeck also thanked the Commissioners for their gift contributions. The trinket giveaways were essential. They gave them out to bus drivers, principals, teachers and others they met on the trip. b. Marketing/Fundraising Subcommittee None. c. Economic Development Subcommittee None.
