A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM REQUESTING A TEMPORARY DETOUR
TO CALTRANS I-5 OFFRAMPS FOR DISNEYLAND HALF
MARATHON
WHEREAS, the Disneyland Half Marathon weekend is scheduled for
August 31 - September 3, 2017; and
WHEREAS, 18,000 runners and walkers will participate in this 13.1 mile course
through the Disney theme parks and along City streets passing the Honda Center, Angel
Stadium, and Interstate 5 (I-5); and
WHEREAS, safety along the course will require an approximately four and a half
hour temporary detour of I-5 ramps in the City of Anaheim on Gene Autry Way; and
WHEREAS, traffic control plans have been prepared, and a certificate of
insurance has been prepared to the satisfaction of Caltrans; and
WHEREAS, DISNEY agrees to reimburse Caltrans for the cost of the traffic
detours.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Anaheim
that the City requests temporary detours of up to four and a half hours on September 3, 2017,
between 5:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. at North and Southbound Gene Autry Way.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim this 25th day of July, 2017, by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Mayor Tait and Council Members Vanderbilt, Murray, Moreno, Kring and Faessel
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: Council Member Barnes
