2037Finance Dir. Acctg. Off. ORDINANCE NO. 2037 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROPRI- ATING FUNDS FOR PROMOTION AND ADVERTISING OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM. WHEREAS, the City Council does find and determine that it would be to the advantage and for the best interests of the City of Anaheim to appropriate funds for the purpose of advertis- ing the City of Anaheim and calling attention to its natural advantages, its resources, its enterprises, its adaptability for industrial sites for the purpose of increasing trade and commerce and encouraging people to visit and to settle in the community, and to promote and encourage the holding of conventions in the City; and WHEREAS, the City Council does further find and deter- mine that advertising the City and promoting the holding of conventions in the City and encouraging visitors to come to the City of Anaheim will promote the growth of the City and result in increased revenue to the City as a result of money spent by such visitors, and that it will encourage persons and industries to locate within the City; and WHEREAS, the City Council does further find that be- cause of the rapid growth and expansion of the City and the surrounding area, the demand for water will be greatly increased and that it is urgently necessary for the City to seek additional sources of water, and that it would be to the advantage and for the best interests and welfare of the City of Anaheim and the citizens thereof to appropriate and expend money for the purpose of promoting and inducing the development of additional sources of water to the City of Anaheim in the near future when it will be greatly needed; and WHEREAS, the City Council does find and determine that special events occur annually or from time to time that are bene- ficial to the City of Anaheim and advertise its advantages and promote its welfare, such as the Halloween Festival held each year and the County Fair and other events that occur from time to time, and that funds should be appropriated for such purposes. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DOTS ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: That there be and there hereby is appropriated the sum of not to exceed $10,000 as a publicity, promotion, music, and advertising fund for the City of Anaheim for the fiscal year 1964-65, to be spent for the following purposes during the fiscal year 1964-65: 1. For advertising and calling attention to the natural advantages, resources, enterprises, adaptability for industrial sites of the City and for the purpose of increasing trade and commerce, and encouraging people to visit and settle in the City of Anaheim. -1- 2. For promoting and encouraging the growth of the City of Anaheim and promoting the holding of conventions and encouraging visitors to,come to the_City of Anaheim and for registration services, pre -registration services, registration badges and badge holders, renting -of bulletin -size typewriters for registra- tion use, program covers and advertising conventions and to promote by solicitation calls and suitable literature and brochures the logic of choosing Anaheim for a convention site. 3. For promotion and completion of State or local water projects for bringing water to southern California. 4. For music promotion. 5. For promoting the growth and welfare of the City of Anaheim during said fiscal year -by staging and conducting the Anaheim Halloween Festival, entering exhibits at the County Fair or entering floats in parades advertising the City of Anaheim and for such other events as the Council shall during said fiscal year determine to be beneficial -to Anaheim and promote its growth and welfare. SECTION 2: AND BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the City Council be, and it is hereby authorized to appoint and designate persons, firms or organizations as agents of the City of Anaheim to spend the funds hereinabove mentioned for publicity, music, promotion and advertising for the above-mentioned purposes -in such amounts as shall be specified by resolution, not exceeding; the amounts herein appropriated. SECTION 3: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be printed once within fifteen (15) days after its adoption, in the Anaheim Bulletin, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and cir- culated in said City, and thirty (30) days from and after its final passage it shall take effect and be in full force.
