Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim, California BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Earl Kelso, Vice Chair Donna Acevedo -Nelson Lori Farrow Arturo Querijero-Ferreras Tierra Wilson BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Kandee Beas, Chair January 18, 2018 STAFF PRESENT: Joe Perez, Community Services Superintendent Wendy Solorio, Community Services Supervisor Beth Lapkowski, Administrative Assistant AGENDA ACTION TAKEN 1. CALL TO ORDER: The Community Services Board meeting was called to order at 5:33 p.m. by Vice Chair Kelso. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Board Member Querijero-Ferreras led the Board in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. 3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: None. 5. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Vice Chair Kelso presented the January 11, 2018 Minutes to the Board Members for changes or corrections. Board Member Querijero-Ferreras made a motion to approve the January 11, 2018 meeting minutes, seconded by Board Member Farrow. The motion was approved with a unanimous vote; Vice Chair Kelso accepted the minutes. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: a) FY2018/2019 CDBG Public Service Agency Funding Presentations: The Board listened to presentations and asked questions of the following agencies: • Dayle McIntosh Center — Mentoring Program for Disabled Youth • Creative Identity — Music and Arts Program for Disabled Adults • Council of Aging Southern California — Care Ombudsman Program • Community SeniorSery — Senior Meal Program • Second Chance OC — Adult Employment Development • Big Brother Big Sisters of OC — Youth Mentoring Program • Anaheim Family YMCA — Youth Sports and Fitness Scholarships • Anaheim Family YMCA —Youth Swim Program • Access California Services — Family Resource Center • Acacia Adult Day Services — Adult Day Care for Seniors Joe Perez stated he will try to contact the Executive Director of ICNA Relief USA, to arrange a presentation to be made at the February Board meeting. Joe also stated that he will be providing a funding spreadsheet for the Board to work on funding allocations at the next meeting where the board members will discuss allocations based on application review and oral presentations given by the agencies. There are 20 agencies that requested funding for 22 programs. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Joe Perez invited the Board to the Grand Opening of the Ponderosa Park Family Resource Center and Gymnasium on January 27. ADJOURNMENT: Vice Chair Kelso adjourned the meeting at 8:00 p.m. ITEM NO. 01
