1965/07/22DATE: PLACE MINUTES RECEIVED ANAHEIM S%ADIUM COMMISSION July 22, 1965 Anaheim City Hall, City Council Conference Room PRESIDING OFFICER: PRESENT: ALSO PRESENT: The meeting was called t:o order by Commissioner Currier at 2:10 PoMo COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: COMMISSIONERS Paul Hughes Rex Coons Charles Currier Dick Glover Harry Knisely Tom Liegler, Stadium Manager Phil Hanf, Anaheim Bulletin Glen Hatfield, Orange County Evening News Dick McClellan, Administrative Intern Guests: Mike Jones, Mike McKenna~ Bill Thomas Floyd Pruitt and Bill McNames ~ Raceway potentialq APPROVAL OF MINUTES %he minutes of the meeting of July 15, 1965 were approved as wzitten and mailed~ CORRESPONDENCE Chaiz~an Coons read a letter received from M'rs~ Mary Ellen Hare, Past President of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Grace Parlor NOo 242, Fu!!erton~ California, which had enclosed a check for $31o20 for the California Bear Flag presented at. the Convention Center groundbreakingo Commissioner Gl.over moved that the Stadium Commission accept her offer to present a California Bear Flag to be used at the Anaheim Stadium~ a~d to advise her of same by acknowledging her letter° Seconded by Com~issioaer Currier° Motion Carried° %he check will be forwarded to the Finance Departmento GUESTS-RACEWAY POTENTIAL-NATIONAL HOT ROAD ASSOCIATION Mr. Liegler introduced Mr~ Mike Jones and his group, representing the National Hot Rod Association° Mr~ Jones said that their main puzpose in appearing before the Commission was to get acquainted and to find out what their desires might beo They have not submitted a formal proposal because they want it to be tailored to the needs of the Stadium. Their group has contacted the Orange County Fl.ood Control District and the Board of Supervi~or~ for approval to use the Riverbed for their track° STADIUM COMMISSION MINUi~ES July 22~ 1965 Permanent stands would be used along the west side of the riverbed, seating approxi- mately 50,000 to 60,000 to accomodate larger meets° %hey anticipate average attendance each week would be approximately lO,000o Mro Jones stated they would contract with the City of Anaheim for the parking lot and Automatic Canteen Company for the concession services° They hope to be operating in the early months of 1966 if approval is received from Orange County~ Mr~ Jones will report back to the Co~.ission after their meetings with the Flood Control. District and the Board of Supervisors° OLD BUSINESS The additional, rental information was distributed to the Commissioners to be added to their portfolio° M~o McClellan, Administrative Intern, pointed out that each rate is differept because each facility varies~ The Cemmission will study these further and discussion will take place at the meeting of August 5thy NEXT MEETING The meeting scheduled for July 29th was cancelled° ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Knisely moved t'hat the meeting be adjourned at 3:40 PoM., seconded by Commissioner Currier~ Motion carried~ Respectfully submitted, BARBARA_ TANNER~ Secretary
