A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM SUPPORTING THE CALIFORNIA WATERFIX
PROJECT.
WHEREAS, California faces a water policy decision regarding the California
WaterFix project that may ensure the sustainability of the Sacramento -San Joaquin Delta and
provide a reliable supply of water for much of California's population; and
WHEREAS, the California WaterFix project is a comprehensive solution proposed
by state and federal agencies to ensure California has a reliable water supply for many years to
come; and
WHEREAS, the California WaterFix project is consistent with state water policy
objectives which include the need for greater supply reliability for the State Water Project, the
vitality of the state's economy, and diversification of California's water supply portfolio; and
WHEREAS, as a municipal water agency that relies on imported water resources, the
City of Anaheim (City) places a high priority on sustaining reliable water supply from the State
Water Project to support City neighborhoods and the local economy; and
WHEREAS, the proposed California WaterFix project was approved by The
Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) Board of Directors on April 10, 2018.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Anaheim that the City Council supports the objectives of the California WaterFix project, and in
furtherance of these objectives, members of the City Council are hereby authorized, for and in the
name of the City of Anaheim, to sign the letter of support.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim this 12th day of June , 2018, by the following roll call vote:
Mayor Pro Tem Moreno and Council Members Murray,Vanderbilt,
AYES: Barnes, Kring, and Faessel
