Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim, California March 8, 2018 BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: STAFF PRESENT: Earl Kelso, Vice Chair Wendy Solorio, Community Services Supervisor Donna Acevedo -Nelson Eleanor Granflor, Sr. Secretary Arturo Querijero-Ferreras Tierra Wilson Ryann Higgins BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Kandee Beas, Chair Lori Farrow AGENDA ACTION TAKEN 1. CALL TO ORDER: The Community Services Board meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m. by Vice Chair Kelso. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Board Member Higgins led the Board in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: Vice Chair Kelso introduced the new Community Services Board Member, Ryann Higgins. 5. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Vice Chair Kelso presented the February 8, 2018 Minutes to the Board Members for changes or corrections. Board Member Querijero-Ferreras made a motion to approve the February 8, 2018 meeting minutes, seconded by Board Member Wilson. The motion was approved with 4 ayes and one abstention by Board Member Higgins; Vice Chair Kelso accepted the minutes. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: 1) FY2017/2018 CDBG Public Service Funding Process - Mid -Year Agency Presentations: Megan Hartman, with Big Brothers Big Sisters, presented current agency information and answered questions regarding Anaheim youth that have been served in Gang Reduction & Intervention Partnership (GRIP). John Machiaverna, with the Boys and Girls Club of Anaheim, presented current agency information regarding children and families served in Anaheim. Holly Hagler, with Community SeniorServ, presented current agency information and answered questions regarding congregate and home delivered meals programs in Anaheim. 2) CSB Site Visitations: This item will be deferred to the April Board meeting. 3) FY2018/19 CDBG Public Service Funding Process: Wendy Solorio reported that Joe Perez has been in contact with Chair Beas. A memorandum of the preliminary fund recommendations for FY2018/19 will be submitted by the Community Services Director to the City Manager and City Council. Attached to the memo will be a spreadsheet of funding recommendations with three funding levels. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Board Member Acevedo -Nelson stated a "free market" will be held at La Palma Park on March 11th where donated items and free services will be available for the public. Vice Chair Kelso reported Love Anaheim will be hosting a "Volunteer Day" on April 28th. There will be various Community Services Board March 8, 2018 Page 2 projects available for volunteers to work on. Board Member Querijero-Ferreras reported there will be an "International Day of the Child" event on April 27th held at the Ponderosa Park Family Resource Center. Free activities and games will be provided. 8. ADJOURNMENT: Vice Chair Kelso adjourned the meeting at 6:10 p.m.
