A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM GIVING NOTICE OF ITS INTENT
TO APPROVE AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT
BETWEEN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AND THE
BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION OF THE CALIFORNIA
PUBLIC EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the Public Employees' Retirement Law permits the participation of public agencies
and their employees in the Public Employees retirement System by the execution of a contract and sets forth the
procedure by which said public agencies may elect to subject themselves and their employees to elements of said
Law by amending such Contract; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim has previously entered into a contract with the Board of
Administration of the Public Employees Retirement System dated July 25, 1950, which contract has been amended
on several previous occasions; and
WHEREAS, one of the steps in the procedure to amend the above described contract is the
adoption by the City Council of a resolution giving notice of its intention to approve an amendment to the contract,
which resolution shall contain a summary of the of the change or changes proposed in the contract; and
WHEREAS, the following is a statement of the proposed change:
To provide the Pre-Retirement Optional Settlement No. 2 Death Benefit
under Government Code section 21548 and to replace the current $500
Retiree Death Benefit with a $5,000 Retiree Death Benefit under
Government Code section 21623.5 for Police Officers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that notice
be hereby given of its intention to approve said amendment to the contract between the City of Anaheim and the
Board of Administration of the Public Employees Retirement System, a copy of which amendment is attached hereto
as Exhibit A and by this reference is made a part hereof.
