2003-084RESOLUTION NO. 2o03~.- 84 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING A LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AND THE ANAHEIM FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION, LOCAL NO. 2899 WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim and the Anaheim Firefighters Association, Local No. 2899 have met and conferred and reached an understanding regarding Article 55.1.3 of the Memorandum of Understanding; and WHEREAS, the Anaheim Firefighters Association, Local 2899 is in agreement with the recommendation contained in said Letter of Understanding; and WHEREAS, as a result thereof, the Letter of Understanding dated April 30, 2003 between the parties has been prepared and signed; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim does find that it is in the best interest of the City of Anaheim to approve said Letter of Understanding. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the Letter of Understanding dated April 30, 2003 between the Anaheim Firefighters Association, Local 2899 and the City of Anaheim, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein, is hereby approved. This contribution shah be based on the Consumer Pr/ce Index, Ail Items Index- Urban Wage Earners and C/er/ca/ Employees (CPI-W~, for the area ident/fed as Los Angeles - Riverside - Orange County. The increase in ANAH~rM'S contribution shah be equal to the percent change for the year ending ]u/? May of the pr/or calendar year p/us seventy-five percent (75%~ of any amount above the CPI-W. {For example, the City's increase in contribution for calendar year 2003 2004 shah equal the percent change in the CPI-W for the year ending Ju/k' 250~ May 2005 p/us 75% of the amount of the health premium increase that exceeds the percent change in the CPI-W for the year ending ~-,x .... May 2005). Employees who are covered by o~er health plans may present proof of such coverage in order to receive $100 per month in lieu of health benefits provided herein. This shah apply to the dependent spouse of married Anaheim employee coup/es. In the event an employee who has elected this opD'on loses health coverage for any reason, and nol~es ANAHEIM of such loss within five working days, he/she may enroll immediately in any p/an offered by ANAHEIM. Employees may re-elect the "opt-out" option annually during open enrollment, or may enroll in a City sponsored health p/an. Effective January 1, 2003, the payment shah be increased to $125 per month.
