A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO
SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM TO THE CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF
HOMELAND SECURITY (OHS) FOR THE FY 03 STATE
HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM, PART II,
CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE PROTECTION (CIP)
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim wishes to participate in the California Office of
Homeland Security (OHS) FY 03 State Homeland Security Grant Program, Part II, Critical
Infrastructure Protection (CIP); and
WHEREAS, the California OHS is making federal funds available to state or local
agencies as part of the FY 03 State Homeland Security Grant Program, Part II, CIP Program for
costs associated with increased security measures at critical infrastructure sites during the period
of hostilities with Iraq (specifically, March 17 - April 16, 2003); and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim, Anaheim Police Department, wishes to apply for this
financial assistance to offset the over expenditure of the Police Department's budget in the
overtime account due to the war with Iraq and heightened security needs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim as
follows:
The Chief of Police of the City of Anaheim is hereby authorized, on behalf of the
City of Anaheim, to submit a grant application to the California Office of Homeland
Security, and to execute on behalf of the City of Anaheim, all required grant
documents, including any extensions and amendments thereof.
The City of Anaheim is eligible to apply for assistance for costs incurred while
protecting critical infrastructure within the City of Anaheim during the period from
March 17th through April 16th, 2003.
The grant funds received hereunder shall be used to offset the Police Department's
"unfunded" homeland security overtime budget for costs incurred during the war with
Iraq and the national security level being heightened to "orange."
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted~J~y the City Council
