Miraloma Way, Anaheim, California COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Ryan Balius, Chairman James Cook Lynn Cudd Craig Farrow Patty Gaby Nichole Rupp COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Samantha Navarro, Vice Chairman June 27, 2018 STAFF PRESENT: Larry Pasco, Director Sjany Larson -Cash, Community Services Manager Pamela Galera, Principal Project Planner Eleanor Granflor — Sr. Secretary AGENDA ACTION TAKEN 1. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Balius called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Chairman Balius led the Pledge of Allegiance. 3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None. 4. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: None. 5. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Chairman Balius presented the May 23, 2018 Minutes to the Commissioners for changes or corrections. Chairman Balius made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Farrow. The motion was approved with four votes in favor and one abstention from Commissioner Gaby; Chairman Balius accepted the minutes. 6. REPORTS a) Recreation, Neighborhood and Human Services Activity Report — April/May: Sjany Larson -Cash presented the report and highlighted the Cinco de Mayo Festival, Children's Festival, WAND BBQ, Family Friday Night shows at Pearson Park Amphitheater, Miraloma Park Family Resource Center activities, and Ponderosa Park Family Resource Center activities and grand opening of the new park amenities including a splash pad, fitness equipment, picnic shelter and playground. b) Park Ranger Report — May: Sjany Larson -Cash presented the report and highlighted the number of patrols, public contacts and curfew and alcohol violations. Sjany answered questions regarding the number of skate boarding incidents at Palm Lane Park and curfew violations at Juarez Park. c) Parks Capital Prosect Progress Report: Pamela Galera presented the report and highlighted upcoming community meetings. Larry Pasco answered questions regarding the Ball Road Basin project. Pamela Galera answered questions regarding a new park north of Nohl Ranch Canyon Road, east of the Canyon Library. 7. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Larry Pasco reported the City Council approved the FY 2018/19 Budget with the exception of the impact fees. Further studies will be made by the Finance Department and will be presented for approval at a future City Council meeting. Sjany Larson -Cash shared the new Anaheim "Your Community" newsletter that was just published and highlighted Summer Movie Nights that will be hosted at various parks and facilities. Larry Pasco reported that the request by Access California Services to lease land on Brookhurst Park was presented to City Council. Staff was directed by City Council to research other locations within the City that may work for the organization's needs and return back to Council in 45 days with recommendations. Parks and Recreation Commission Minutes June 27, 2018 Chairman Balius asked if the Commission could receive training from the City Clerk's office on the Brown Act. Larry Pasco stated he will look into it and provide feedback to the Commission. 8. ADJOURNMENT: Chairman Balius adjourned the meeting at 6:30 p.m.
