A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM AMENDING PERSONNEL RULE 5,
HOURS OF WORK AND PAY DAY, AS SET FORTH IN
RESOLUTION NO. 88R-166.
WHEREAS, on April 26, 1988, the City Council adopted Resolution No.
88R-166 adopting Personnel Rules covering management, confidential and
non-represented part-time employees; and
WHEREAS, the Human Resources Director recommended in a staff report
dated July 18, 1989, that the Hours of Work and Pay Day Rule be amended to
define policies related to the alternate work schedule; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim does fina that
approval of the recommended new provisions is in the best interests of the
City of Anaheim.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Anaheim that Resolution No. 88R-166, be amended by revising Personnel Rule 5,
Hours of Work and Pay Day, by adding Subsections 5.025 through 5.028 to
Section 5.02 to read as follows:
"5.025 Employees who perform authorized work in excess of the deiined
alternate work day or work week and who are otherwise eligible
for overtime pay shall be compensated for such work at the rate
of one and one half (1 1/2) times their regular hourly rate of
pay, notwithstanding the provisions of Personnel Rule 6, Premium
Pay.
5.026 Employees who do not work on the holiday or day observed in lieu
of the holiday as set forth in Personnel Rule 15 shall be
required to submit a vacation request for each hour beyond eight
(8) hours of the defined alternate work schedule.
5.027 Employees eligible for bereavement leave as set forth in
Personnel Rule 19 shall be required to submit a vacation request
for each hour beyond eight (8) hours of the defined alternate
work schedule.
5.028 Employees may be assigned to or from an alternate work schedule
only effective at the beginning of a bi-weekly pay period."

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the effective date of said amendment to
Resolution No. 88R-166 is July 21, 1989.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that except to the extent amended,
Resolution No. 88R-166 shall remain in full force and effect.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim this 25th day of .... July , 1989.
