A RESOLUTION OF THE CI~Y OF ANAHEIM SUPPORTING
5'HE EFFORTS OF THE ORANGE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION
COMMISSION ON THE DEVELOPMEN~ OF IMPLEMENTATION
PLANS FOR COMMUTER RAIL PASSENGER SERVICE IN
ORANGE COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim has
adopted a General Plan including a Circulation Element; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim General Plan Circulation
Element contains, as one (1) of the primary goals, tire development
o£ a Balanced Transportation System; and
WHEREAS, tile concurrent evaluation of this component of
regional public transportation with other regional studies and
planning efforts will result in cost savings to the general public
and an increased potential for future implementation; and
WHEREAS, tile early introduction of this service could
significantly mitigate the traffic implications of the urgently
needed improvements to the i-5 Freeway widening project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE iT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the Orange County Transportation
Commission is hereby urged to initiate at the earliest possible
date, the evaluation of all options to implement Commuter Rail
Passenger Service in the Los Angeles to San Diego corridor.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim thisl4th day of June, 1988.
