A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM SUPPORTING HR 4127, ESTABLISHING
THE AMERICAN HERITAGE TRUST.
WHEREAS, HR 4127 is legislation which would establish the American
Heritage Trust to enhance the protection of the Nation's natural, historical,
cultural and outdoor recreational heritage; and
}/HEREAS, HR 4127 would create a permanent Land and Water Conservation
Fund; and
WHEREAS, HR 4127 would continue the current Land and Water
Conservation Fund annual authorization and would provide that the interest
accrued from such annual authorization would be available for obligation and
expenditure without further appropriation; and
WHEREAS, HR 4127 would provide that 50 percent of the funds
apportioned to each State shall be passed directly to local governments for
recreation and conservation planning for three years after enactment; and
WHEREAS, HR 4127 is a result of recommendations from the President's
Commission on American Outdoors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
Anaheim endorses HR 4127, which would provide federal funding for parks and
recreational land development and acquisition and other related purposes.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim this 30th day of August , 1988.
