WALT DISNEY APPRECIATION DAY: Mayor Krein reported on Walt Disney Appreciation Day, proclaimed at the City Council Meeting of December 20, 1966, advising that approval of th July 17, 1967 (and every year thereafter) date has been given by Disneyland Officials° MINUTES: Minutes of the Anaheim City Council Meetings held December 13 and 20, 1966, were approved on motion by Councilman Chandler, seconded by Councilman Pebley. MOTION CARRIED° WAIVER OF READING - ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS: Councilman Pebley moved to waive the reading in full of all ordinances and resolutions, and that consent to the waiver of reading is hereby given by all Councilmen, unless after reading of the title, specific request is made by a Councilman for the reading of such ordinance or resolution. MOTION CARRIED° BILLIARD PARLOR PERMIT: Application filed by Cecil M. Napier for Amusement and Entertainment Premises permit to allow a billiard parlor (three pool tables, one juke box, two pin ball machines), at Brook-Ball Amusement Center, 821 South Brookhurst Street, was submitted and granted subject to the provisions of Chapter 4~24 of the Anaheim Municipal Code as recommended by the Chief of Police, on motion by Councilman Pebley, seconded by Councilman Chandler. MOTION CARRIED° BILLIARD ROOM PERMIT AND ENTERTAINMENT PERMIT: Application filed by Jack Rew on behalf of Brunswick Corporation for Amusement and Entertainment Premises permit to allow nine billiard tables, and Entertainment permit to allow musical entertainment at Brunswick Wonderbowl, 1177 West Katella Avenue, were submitted. On the recommendations of the Chief of Police, said Billiard Room permit was granted, and said Entertainment permit was granted for a period of one year, subject to provisions of Chapters 4.24 and 4.18 of the Anaheim Municipal Code, on motion by Councilman Pebley, seconded by Councilman Chandler. CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NOo 786: Submitted by Joseph Tseu requesting permission to establish a church edifice and educational unit; R-A property located on west side of Dale Avenue, south of Crescent Avenue (approved by Planning Commission November 22, 1965). The City Planning Commission approved revised plans and granted one year extension of time. VARIANCE NOo 1798: Submitted by Southern California Edison Company, Mrs. Anita S. Hertzler, Authorized Agent, for permission to conduct retail nursery sales in conjunction with wholesale sales; property briefly des- cribed as located at the southeast corner of State College Boulevard and Cerritos Avenue (approved by the Planning Commission for a period of six months on June 6, 1966). By motion, the City Planning Commission granted six months extension of time for retail sales, and directed that the petitioner be advised that no restocking of original retail items should be attempted, all existing stock to be sold within the six month period. The foregoing actions were reviewed by the City Council and no further action taken on the above numbered conditional use permit and variance applications. ORANGE COUNTY USE VARIANCE NOo 5837: Excerpt of the City Planning Commission Meeting held January 4, 1967, pertaining to Orange County Use Variance No. 5837 requesting permission to enlarge an existing equipment rental business located on the north side of Lincoln Avenue, approximately 950 feet east of Batavi= Street, was submitted recommending that the Orange County Planning Commission be urged to consider certain requirements, if Orange County Use Variance No~ 5837 were approved. On motion by Councilman Pebley, seconded by Councilman Chandler, the City Council concurred with the recommendations of the City Planning Commission and ordered copy thereof forwarded to the Orange County Planning Commission~ MOTION CARRIED° ORANGE COUNTY TENTATIVE MAP~ TRACT NOo 6286: Developer, Rinker Development Corporation; tract located east of the city limits, north of Orangethorpe Avenue and west of Orchard Drive, and proposed for 5 R-2, 5,000 single family lots. ORANGE COUNTY USE VARIANCE NOo 5822: Request of Cs L~ Pharris for permission to remove sand and gravel over a period of six years, property briefly described as located on the east side of Orchard Drive, approximately 250 feet north of the Yorba Linda Freeway, was recommended for denial by the City Planning Commission° The City Council, on December 6, 1966, concurred with said recommendation and ordered a copy thereof forwarded to the Orange County Planning Commissions Zoning Supervisor Ronald Thompson reported that the County Planning Commission denied said use variance, however said action was appealed and would be considered by the Orange County Board of Supervisors. Warner Buck Enterprises was submitted, requesting permission to erect tents between the two wings of the grandstand at Anaheim Stadium, together with connecting canopies, during the Recreational Vehicle Show, from 3anuary 11 to approximately February 3, 1967. On the recommendations of the City Attorney, Councilman Chandler moved said request be approved, subject to approval by the Stadium Conanittee. Councilman Pebley seconded the motion. MOTION CARRIED. RIGHT-OF-WAY CERTIFICATION: On the recommendations of the City Engineer, it was moved by Councilman Pebley, seconded by Councilman Chandler that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign Right-of-Way Certification in connection with the right-of-way for Project A.H.F.P No. 3Z3, Dowling Avenue at Crowther Avenue. PROPOSED MEMORIAL - WALT DISNEY: Mayor Kreim reported on recent meeting with Mr. David Baker, of the Orange County Board of Supervisors and three members of the Disneyland Staff, to consider the suggestion of forming a Walt Disney Mem~.rJal Commission, advising that ~c was considered appropriate to appoint a fifteen member commission composed of Orange County residents to review some of the reconnnended memorials suggested by the public. The Mayor requested that members of the City Council submit names of persons recommended to serve on the Commission, and advised that Super- visor Baker was also soliciting s~ggested membership from the Board of S~pervisors. INTRODUCTION: Safety and Training Coordinator Thomas Tyre, of the Personnel Department, introduced seve*~ new employees, attenting the Council Meeting as part of the ~'~entation Program.
