RESOLUTION NO. 70R-609
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM REQUESTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF A
TRUNK SEWER ALONG THE NORTH SIDE OF THE SANTA
ANA RIVER.
WHEREAS, there are large areas within Orange County
Sanitation District NO.2, north of the Santa Ana River, which
have a need for trunk sewers to adequately serve such area; and
WHEREAS, on March 10, 1965, District received a pre-
liminary engineering report, which report recommends the construc-
tion of a trunk sewer easterly of Jefferson Street and north of
the Santa Ana River, said sewer being designated therein as the
North Santa Ana River Trunk Sewer; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim constructed a sewer in
La Palma Avenue, from Jefferson to Imperial Highway with the
design having been predicated on the interception of flows by
the Richfield and Orchard Trunks of the North Santa Ana River
Trunk Sewer; and
WHEREAS, during recent years a joint trunk outfall
along the north side of the Santa Ana River, from Riverside,
San Bernardino was planned which would have also provided trunk
sewer capacity for this area; and
WHEREAS, the joint outfall construction project does
not seem to be proceeding with a reasonable assurance of comple-
tion in the near future; and
WHEREAS, the North Santa Ana River Trunk will provide
the required relief for the existing South Santa Ana River Trunk,
as shown on said report; and
WHEREAS, a relief trunk sewer will also be necessary
to relieve the Newhope-Placentia trunk sewer due to projected
overloading in certain areas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the Board of Directors of the Orange
County Sanitation District No.2 be, and they hereby are, requested
to plan the implementation of the March 10, 1965 Report which will
provide trunk sewer construction along the north side of the
Santa Ana River, particularly between Jefferson Avenue and Weir
Canyon Road, said construction to be completed prior to January 1,
1974, to provide relief to projected overloaded lines and service
to areas currently without trunk sewers.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 29th day of December, 1970.
