70R-596 RESOLUTION NO. 70R-596 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANC- ING PROGRAM CERTAIN HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS. WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim desires to improve the following streets: Orange Ave. from Beach Blvd. to West City Limits Brookhurst St. from Lincoln Ave. to Ball Rd. Magnolia Ave. from La Palma Ave. to Lincoln Ave. La Palma Ave. from Magnolia Ave. to West City Limits Orangewood Ave. from State College Blvd. to Harbor Blvd. Ball Rd. from Euclid St. to Brookhurst St. WHEREAS, the aforementioned streets are important arteries in the County of Orange and of general County interest; and WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2 of the Streets and Highways Code authorizes a County, if it so desires, to expend funds apportioned to it out of the Cali- fornia Highway Users Tax Fund for aid to any City in the improve- ment, construction or repair of a street within a City; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate action, provide in the County Budget of the Special Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year 1971-1972 a sum of money for the improvement of streets within the incorporated cities of the county in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway Financing Program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the City of Anaheim requests, and it does hereby request, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to allocate to the City of Anaheim, from County funds, the amounts set forth below, said amounts to be matched by funds from said City, to be used to aid said City in the improvement of the streets set forth herein and for the acquisition of neces- sary rights-of-way; said improvements and acquisition of rights- of-way and the specific amounts in connection with each project are as set forth below: $49;800 Orange Ave. from Beach Blvd. to West City Limits This project consists of widening to a minimum of four (4) travel lanes, capping entire street as required, traffic signal relocation, drainage facilities as required, and appurtenant work and engineering. $152,700 Brookhurst St. from Lincoln Ave. to Ball Rd. This project consists of acquisition of right of way in the 71-72 fiscal year to allow for con- struction to ultimate in 72-73. -1- $161,200 Magnolia Ave. from La Palma Ave. to LIncoln Ave. This project consists of widening to ultimate width, capping the entire street as required, relocation of traffic signals, construction of a storm drain, and appurtenant work and engineering. $ 26;320 La Palma Ave. from Magnolia Ave. to West City Limits This project consists of widening to ultimate width, capping the entire street as required, relocation of traffic signals, and appurtenant work and engineering. $662,960 Orangewood Ave. from State College Blvd. to Harbor Blvd. This project consists of widening to ultimate width, capping the entire street as required, relocation of traffic signals, construction of a storm drain, construction of a freeway overcross- ing, and appurtenant work and engineering. $ 79,210 Ball Rd. from Euclid St. to Brookhurst St. This project consists of widening to ultimate width, capping the entire street as required, relocation of traffic signals, construction and/or reconstruction of drainage facilities as required, and appurtenant work and engineering. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said works and acquisition of rights-of-way as set forth above are in the general County interest. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that by this resolution that City of Anaheim agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highways Financing Program; and further agrees that its share of the cost of improvements and rights-of-way will be available for the fiscal year 1971-1972. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and she is hereby, authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Board of Supervisors of Orange County, California, and a certified copy to the County Surveyor and Road Commissioner at 400 W. Eighth Street, Santa Ana, California.
