RESOLUTION NO. 70R- 549

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM REQUESTING THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA,
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, TO PROCEED IMMEDI-
ATELY WITH PLANNING, DESIGN, AND INSTALLATION
OF LANDSCAPING ALONG THE ROUTE OF THE ORANGE
FREEWAY.
WHEREAS, the State of California has caused to be
constructed Route 57, the Orange Freeway; and
WHEREAS, said Orange Freeway passes through the
cities of Anaheim, Placentia, Fullerton, and Brea, in north-
east Orange County, said cities comprising an estimated
aggregate population of 295,000; and
WHEREAS, the Orange Freeway which has not been land-
scaped passes through an area inhabited by citizens of minority
extraction who are being encouraged to upgrade their community
and enviornment through a program of public and private improve-
ment; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim is concerned with fire
hazards and unsightly weed growth; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of the urban communities through
which the Orange Freeway passes expect the State of California
to improve the public transportation network without detracting
from the natural beauty of said communities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Anaheim requests the State of California,
Department of Public Works, to immediately proceed with the
planning and design for the landscaping along the route of
the Orange Freeway through the ~ities of Fullerton, Anaheim,
Placentia, and Brea including budgeting funds for the installa-
tion and maintenance of said landscaping necessary to complete
the project.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by
me this 10th day of November, 1970.

November, 1970.
