70R-212 RESOLUTION NO. 70R- 212 A RESOLUT~ON OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEI~ REQUESTING THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY COMMISSIO~ TO PERMIT A TEMPORARY CONNECTION TO THE EX~STING IMPERIAL HIGHWAY APPROXIMATELY 1,000 FEE~ SOUTHERLY OF ORANGETHORPE AVENUE. WHEREAS, the California Highway Commission on January 15, 1952, passed a .resolution declaring that portion of Route 42 in the County of Orange, between Yorba Linda Boulevard and Route 91 (Riverside Freeway), to be a Freeway; and WHEREAS ,that portion of Route 42 (Imperial Highway) between Orangethorpe Avenue and Route 91 has not been constructed to freeway standards, and WHEREAS, the State's plans for conversion of said section of Imperial Highway to freeway standards are incomplete; and WHEREAS. construction of said section to freeway standards is not eXpected to take place for several years; and WHEREAS, the Master Plan of Arterial Highways of ti1e County of Orange shows a Secondary Highway (La Palma Avenue) extending easterly from existing La Plama Avenue at Imperial Highway to join Fa~rmount Boulevard between Esperanza Road and La Plama Avenue: and WHEREAS, this area of Anaheim and the County of Orange is zoned for high density residential and rapid development is anticipated: and WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim has plans to extend La Palma Avenue fr~m Imperial Highway in tile immediate future and a connection to Imperial Highway is especially desirable; and WHEREAS, Sections 100.2 and 100.3 of the Streets and Highway Code specify the approval of the California Highway Commission, by res~lution, in order to permit additional connections to, or crossings of, declared freeway routes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anabeim that it request, and it does hereby request the California Highway Commission to permit a temporary connection to existing Imperial Highway approximately 1,000 feet southerly of Orangethorpe Avenue. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Anaheim does hereby request that the disposition of the connection at the time the freeway is constructed be subject to the terms and conditions of a future agreenent between the City of Anaheim and tl1e State of California regarding the con- struction of the Route 42 Freeway. -1- -- ,~ THE FOREGO~NG RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me this 21st day of April , 19~_ ~E15o~ ATTEST: ~-~ '7.~.
