98-256RESOLUTION 98R- 256 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DECLARING A POLICY WITH REGARD TO WATER RECLAMATION AND WATER USE EFFICIENCY WHEREAS, the governing bodies of the County of Orange, the Municipal Water District of Orange County, Orange County Water District, Orange County Sanitation District, City of Fullerton, City of Santa Ana, Coastal Municipal Water District, Aliso Water Management Agency, South East Regional Reclamation Authority (collectively, the Agencies) have adopted a resolution declaring a policy with regard to water reclamation and water use efficiency; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim (Anaheim) wishes to join in that resolution; and WHEREAS, Anaheim and the Agencies adopting this resolution participate either directly or indirectly in providing potable water and waste water service to all residents and businesses within the County of Orange, California; and WHEREAS, Orange County population projections show an increase of 500,000 new residents by the year 2010; and, WHEREAS, Orange County's economy is ranked as the 32nd largest in the world and generates an annual gross product valued in excess of $80 billion; and, WHEREAS, there exists a continuing and growing need for reliable water supplies in Orange County; and, WHEREAS, conservation is a cost-effective method of enhancing available supplies; and, WHEREAS, the Memorandum of Understanding regarding Best Management Practices for urban water conservation is a proven and acceptable framework in which to aggressively implement water use efficiency programs; and, WHEREAS, Anaheim and all the Agencies have and do individually support and implement water use efficiency and/or water reclamation program; and, WHEREAS, Anaheim and the Agencies have the respective power and authority to implement such water use efficiency projects. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim as follows:
