RESOLUTION NO. 83R-I03

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM FINDING AND DETERMINING
THAT CERTAIN WORK IS OF URGENT NECESSITY
AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY ENGINEER TO RECEIVE
INFORMAL BIDS FOR REPAIR OF THE HARBOR
BOULEVARD SEWER, S/O KATELLA AVENUE.
WHEREAS, Anaheim City Charter Section 1211 provides that
contracts on public works may be let without advertising for bids
if such work shall be deemed by the City Council to be of urgent
necessity for the preservation of life, health or property; and
WHEREAS, the Street Maintenance and Sanitation Division
has informed the City Engineer that a portion of the existing
sewer in Harbor Boulevard south of Katella Avenue is partially
obstructed and/or damaged and cannot be properly cleaned, and
has requested that it be repaired; and
WHEREAS, in order that this work may proceed in advance
of the traffic signal and street resurfacing project at Harbor
Boulevard and Katella Avenue, it is requested that the City
Engineer be authorized to receive informal bids for this project;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that this
public work is of urgent necessity for the preservation of health
and property; and
WHEREAS, there exists insufficient time for repair of
the Harbor Boulevard sewer prior to the traffic signal and street
resurfacing project scheduled to be awarded on AprilS, 1983 under
the normal bidding procedures.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that:
1. Immediate repair of the Harbor Boulevard sewer from
Katella Avenue to 50' S/o Katella Avenue is of urgent
necessity for the preservation of health and property; and
2. The City Engineer be authorized to receive informal
bids for said sewer repair.
