RESOLUTION NO. 84R-230
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM APPROVING A REVISION TO THE HOUSING
ELEMENT OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DESIGNATED AS
GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT NO. 195 PURSUANT TO
SECTION 65588 OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE OF THE
STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim has
heretofore adopted a general plan for the City of Anaheim pursuant
to the requirements of Section 65700 of the Government Code of the
State of California; and
WHEREAS, one of the elements of said general plan is a
housing element as required by Section 65302(c) of the Government
Code of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, the current housing element of the general plan
was adopted by the City of Anaheim on June 30, 1981, in conformity
with the housing element guidelines adopted by the Department of
Housing and Community Development ("Department") on December 7,
1977, and located in Subchapter 3 (commencing with Section 6300)
of Chapter 6 of Part 1 of Title 25 of the California
Administrative Code; and
WHEREAS, said housing element of the general plan of the
City of Anaheim was found to be adequate by the Department on July
24, 1981; and
WHEREAS, said housing element of the general plan of the
City of Anaheim is deemed in compliance with the requirements of
Article 10.6 of Chapter 3 of Division 1 of Title 7 (commencing
with Section 65580) of the Government Code of the State of
California pursuant to the provisions of Section 65586 of the
Government Code; and
WHEREAS, Section 65588 of the Government Code requires
each local government to review its housing element as frequently
as appropriate to evaluate (1) the appropriateness of the housing
goals, objectives and policies in contributing to the attainment
of the state housing goal, (2) the effectiveness of the housing
element in attainment of the community's housing goals and
objectives, and (3) the progress of the city in implementation of
the housing element, and further requires that the housing element
be revised as appropriate, but not less than every five (5) years,
to reflect the results of such periodic review with the first such
revision to be accomplished by July 1, 1984; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Department of the City of Anaheim,
in cooperation and conjunction with other departments of the City,
has heretofore reviewed and prepared a proposed revision to the
housing element of the City of Anaheim ("General Plan Amendment
No. 195") pursuant to the requirements of Section 65588 of the
Government Code; and

WHEREAS, on the 30th day of April, 1984, the City
Planning Commission of the City of Anaheim did hold a public
hearing to consider said General Plan Amendment No. 195 and did
receive evidence, reports and testimony relating thereto at said
public hearing; and
WHEREAS, at the conclusion of said public hearing, the
City Planning Commission did duly adopt its Resolution No. PC84-86
recommending the approval of General Plan Anendment No. 195 to the
City Council of the City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, upon receipt of said Resolution, summary of
evidence, report of findings and recommendations of the City
Planning Commission, the City Council did fix the 19th day of
June, 1984, as the time, and the City Council Chamber in the Civic
Center as the place for a public hearing on said proposed General
Plan Amendment No. 195 and did give notice thereof in the manner
provided by law; and
WHEREAS, the City Council did duly hold and conduct such
public hearing and did give all persons interested therein an
opportunity to be heard, and did receive evidence and reports and
did consider the recommendations of the City Planning Commission
and did review the housing element of the general plan of the City
of Anaheim in the manner required by Section 65588 of the
Government Code; and
WHEREAS, the City Council does find and determine that
General Plan Amendment No. 195 revising the housing element in the
manner required by Government Code Section 65588 should be
approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Anaheim that General Plan Amendment No. 195, the text of
which is on file in the Planning Department of the City of Anaheim
as of this date be, and the same is hereby, approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Planning Department be,
and it is hereby, directed to incorporate said General Plan
Amendment No. 195 into the housing element of the general plan of
the City of Anaheim.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Planning Department shall
provide the Department of Housing and Community Development of the
State of California with a copy of said General Plan Amendment No.
195 pursuant to the provisions of Section 65885(c) of the
Government Code.

THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 19th day of June, 1984.
