planning in the Cou~y of Orange and of general County int,erest; and
WHEREAS,. i,eFederB!l-Aid Highway Act of 1978 provides
Federal funds for e :enditure on the Federal-Aid Urban (FAU)
System of Highways .' 'd nonhighway public mass transit projects;
and .
WHEREAS, tf:1e FAU System consists of certain eligible
State Highways,.Co~ roads, and city streets located within
urban and urbanlzed .reas of the State; and .
WHEREAS, !eCa1ifomia Department of Transportation
intends that, fundS. ',' a.11ocatl.ed to the urbanized and urban areas
on the basis of pro .rtiona1popu1ation in conformance with the
Federa1~Aid Highway it\ctof 1978; and
WHEREAS,' t~eCal ifomia Department of Transportation
has specified that e~. '.ch urban. and urban~zed area must. d.eve1op
an acceptable proces~ for re~ewingproJectsand recommending
priorities and that J:heappropriate regional planning agency
(SCAG) must concur wfuth the process; and '

NOW, THE;'FORE, BEl IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Ana . :im hereby requests that thelmprovemerit of

sal.d l.mprovements .~ be l.n accordance w1th the attached pre11.minary
project statement.
BE IT F~. HER RESOLVED that, by this. Resolution, the
