A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING THE UTILITIES DIRECTOR
TO FILE wtrTH THE FEDERAL ENERGY REGULATORY
COMMISSION (FERC) A JOINT APPLICATION FOR
ANAHEIM AND THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE FOR A PRE-
LIMINARY PERMIT TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF
THE PROPO~ED BALSAM MEADOW HYDROELECTRIC
POWER PROD'ECT.

WHEREAS, )the City Council has been informed that devel-
opment of a hydroel~!ctric power proj ect located in California near
Shaver Lake may be t~asible; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes participation by
Anaheim in developm~nt of hydroelectric power is in the best in-
terest of electric consumers in the City of Anaheim; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes joint development of
a hydroelectric power project with the City of Riverside is desir-
ab Ie. .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
does hereby authori~e the Utilities Director to file with the
Federal Energy Regu~atory Co~ission (FERC), a joint application
for Anaheim and the City of Riverside for a preliminary permit to
study the feasibility of the proposed Balsam Meadow Hydroelectric
Power Project (Project No. 2868) at the inlet of the north fork of
Stevenson Creek, a tributary of the San Joaquin River, on the
north shore of Shav~r Lake Reservoir near Shaver Lake, California.

City Council of the City of Anaheim this 19thday of December,
1978.
