RESOLUTION NO. 78R-~
A RESOLUTI~N OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM[EXPRESSING ITS INTENT TO BUILD A
TRAIN STAT!C~N PLATFORM AT ANAHEIM STADIUM IN
THE EVENT ERTAIN GRANT FUNDS ARE MADE AVAIL-
ABLE BY TH. STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, t*e City of Anaheim has requested and received
a demonstration grant from the State of California for the con-
struction of a train! station platform at Anaheim Stadium under the
SB-283 program; and f
WHEREAS, t~~ City hts also submitted a request for SB-1879
construction funding/tor the train station platform; and
i
WHEREAS, d,ring the next few years a new major commercial,
industrial and recre.tional complex will be constructed at Anaheim
Stadium; and
WHEREAS, A_aheim Stadium is the home of the California
Angeles, the Califor$la Surf and the future home of the Los Angeles
Rams; and
WHEREAS, s$me 8,000 people will be working in new commer-
cial and industrial ~ffices within easy walking distance of the
proposed train stati4>n platform in addition to the millions of at-
tendees to other sta~lum events; and
WHEREAS, A~aheim is the largest city in Orange County and
the home of some 205iPOO peop~e, and is visited by some 15,000,000
annual tourists and' pests attending events at the Anaheim Convention
Center and Disneylan ; and
WHEREAS, t~e City of Anaheim is interested in providing the
best integrated tran.portation system available for its residents and
guests.
NOW, THEREfORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Anaheim thatlf the state of California makes grant funds
available, the City ~f Anaheim intends to build a train station plat-
form at the Anaheim $tadium.
THE FOREGOtNG RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of tl're City \ of Anaheim this 5th day of December ,
1978.
