RESOLUTION NO. 78R-763
A RESO~UTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY Off ANAHEIM OPPOSING THE AIR QUALITY
MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR THE SOUTH COAST AIR
BASIN.
WHEREA~, the Air Quality Management Plan for the
South Coast Air ~asin was presented to the City Council on
December 5, 1978~ and
WHEREA~, the City Council has determined that
the cost for this Plan will exceed $10,000,000.00 to the
City of Anaheim ~nually; and
WHEREAS, this cost will be double the Property
Tax rate imposed on the citizens of this city; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of this City have voted to
cut taxes in the '1"ecently passed Proposition 13; and
WHEREAS, the City Council feels that this problem
of Air Quality sHould be handled at the Federal level by
imposing greater safeguards on emission on the automobile
manufacturer and industry of all types; and
WHEREA~, the City opposes any Federally Mandated
Programs when th~y are not needed locally and can be
handled on the Fdderal level.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that it does oppose the Air Quality
Management Plan for the South Coast Air Basin.
THE FO~GOING RESOLUTION is approved ~d adopted
by the City Coundil of the City of Anaheim this 5th day of
December, 1978.
