80R-452 RESOLUTION NO. 80R -452
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM SUPPORTING PROPOSITION I,
THE CALIFORNIA PARKLANDS ACT OF 1980, WHICH
WILL PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THE ACQUISITION AND
DEVELOPMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION FACILITIES
AND PROGRAMS.
WHEREAS, parks and recreation programs vastly enhance
our urban environment; and
WHEREAS, leisure and open spaces in both urban and rural
areas are a necessity to life, since they have a substantial effect
on mental and physical health, economic productivity and social
problems; and
WHEREAS, recreation programs can particularly aid in the
amelioration of problems such as juvenile delinquency and senior
citizens in transition; and
WHEREAS, Proposition I would place before the voters of
California a measure to provide funding for acquisition and develop-
ment of parks, recreation programs, conservation of natural resources,
and access to popular recreation areas and
WHEREAS, the proposed parklands program will make available
additional recreation areas in and near population centers, which is
particularly important as transportation and fuel becomes more
expensive; and
WHEREAS, enhancement of parks and other natural resources
will have a direct economic benefit to our community and the State
as a whole; and moreover, will benefit the health and well being of
Californians.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Anaheim goes on record in support of Proposition I and
urges its approval by the voters of the State of California.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Anaheim this 7th day of October, 1980.
