80R-007 n t"') i !~ REspLurION NO. 80R- 7 A RESOLurION F THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, CAL IORNIA, ADOPI'ING REGULATIONS FOR CANDIDATES F ELECTIVE OFFICE, PERTAINING TO MATERIALS S ITTED TO THE ELECTORATE AND THE COSTS TIIEREOF, !FOR THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD INI SAID CI'r~ ON TUESDAY, APRIL 8, 1980. WHEREAS, Sect~on 10012 of the Elections Code of the State of California provides ~hat the governing body of any local agency adopt regulations perta~ning to materials prepared by any candidate for a municipal electio:p." including costs thereof; NOW, THEREFO~I' THE CItY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY! RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. GftmRAL PR~VISIONS. That pursuant to Section 10012 of the Elections '.p.de of t~.e State of California, each candi- date for elective offic, to be v~ted for at the General MUnicipal Election'to be held in .he City of Anaheim on April 8, 1980, may prepare a candidate's statement on an appropriate form provided by the City Clerk. Such s4atement ~ay include the name, age and occu- pation of the candidatejand a brief description of no more than two hundred (200) wordslcf the candidate's education and qualifica- tions expressed by the 4andidate himself. Such statement shall not include party affiliati4n of the candidate, nor membership or activity in partisan pojitical organizations. Such statement shall be filed in the office ~f the City Clerk at the time the candidate's nomination papers are f~led. Such statement may be withdrawn, but not changed, during the !period for filing nomination papers and until 5:00 p.m. of the ~ext working day after the close of the nomination period. SECTION 2. S~NISH ~UAGE. The City Clerk shall pro- vide a Spanish translat~~n of the candidate's statement to be included in the voter's_~amphlet and mailed with the sample ballot to each voter in said C~ty. ~. SECTION 3. A~ITIONALMATERIALS. No candidate will be permitted to include ad~tional materials in the sample ballot package. -1- II 1 r"\ i ,~\ n SECTION 4. Pjt\YMENT. The City Clerk shall estimate the total cost of printing, I handling, translating, and mailing the candidate's statements ~iled pursuant to the Elections Code, and require each candidate ~iling a statement to pay in advance his or her pro rata share as a: condition of having his or her statement included in the voter's, pamphlet. The City Clerk shall bill each candidate for any cost Ln excess of the deposit and shall refund any unused portion of any deposit. SECTION 5. Ttat the Clty Clerk shall provide each candi- date or the candidate's~epresen~ative a copy of this Resolution at the time nominating ~etitions are issued. SECTION 6. ~at the Clty Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of! this Resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original Re,olutions of said City; and shall make a minute of passage and a~option thereof in the records of the pro- ceedings of the City Co.ncil of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the satpe is passed and adopted.
