69R-450 RESOLUTION NO. 69R- 450 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM REQUESTING THE CALIFORNIA HIG&lNAY COMMISSION TO PERMIT THE SANTA ANA FREEWAY INTERCHANGE RAMPS TO BROOKHURST AND LA PALMA AVENUES TO BE REVISED. WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim and the State of Cali- fornia have heretofore entered into a Freeway Agreement, dated February 4, 1964, relating to the portion of the Santa Ana Freeway, State Highway Road 07-0RA-5 (former 07-0RA-174-Ana), between the Fullerton-Anaheim City limit at Houston Street and the Anaheim- Orange City limit near State College Boulevard; and WHEREAS, further engineering studies indicate that widening of Brookhurst Avenue and interchange revisions between said Santa Ana Freeway and certain highways, known as Brook- hurst Avenue and La Palma Avenue and shown on the Master Plan of Arterial Highways of said City (and also of Orange County), would be desirable as shown on attached print labeled "Exhibit A"; and WHEREAS, the City is willing to acquire the necessary right of way and bear the costs which would be required for widening of the local roadway if the Freeway were not in existence; and WHEREAS, State has accepted responsibility of acqu~r~ng right of way for new location of off-ramp to La Palma Avenue; and WHEREAS, relocation of off-ramp to La Palma Avenue would create undesirable living conditions between said off- ramp and Brookhurst Street; and WHEREAS, a connection from Brookhurst Avenue to Freeway now exists by way of La Palma Avenue; and WHEREAS, Sections 100.2 and 100.3 of the Streets and h~ghways Code require the approval of the California Highway Commission, by Resolution, in order to permit connection to any Freeway. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Anaheim t.i1at the California Highway Commission, pursuant to authority vested in it by law, be, and it is hereby requested to permit the Santa Ana Freeway (Interstate 5) inter- change ramps to said Brookhurst Avenue and La Palma Avenue to be revised as shown on attached print labeled "Exhibit A", dated August 28, 1968, and made a part hereof. BE IT FURTHER RESOLv~D, and it is hereby requested tnat right of way for the loop ramp from Brookhurst Street to Freeway be acquired by State; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, and it is hereby requested tnat consideration be given to widening of the present La Palma Avenue two-lane overcrossing of the Santa Ana Freeway to provide -1- ,""""".'".....,-,.....,.-.-- for four lanes of traffic as set forth on the Master Plan of Arterial Highways of said City (and also of Orange County) as soon as feasible.
