Rep- resentatives of the Broadway-Hale Stores, Inc. and the Colwell- Barker Company appeared before the Commission and presented plans for the proposed development, As per the pians presented, there would be no entrance into the property for the resideats except frercn Buclid Avenue, to"these apartmentsp therefore eliminating traffic on Loara Street. At the time the P-L Zone was estabiished by Re- classification Na P-55-56-19, the property in question was owned by Orco Commercial Properties, and no protest was mc.:e by them at the time this zone wa.s established. 1~e desire to purchsse this small parcel of property at an appraised price that will be reai- istic. We believe that to aliow a 1500 square foot restaurant ard cocktaii lounge in the midst of an industrial area in a P-L Zone would be detrimental to a11 properties in the area. Mrs. A. A. Warnoff. Reaitor, appeared for the applican+. and stated that Mr. Petropoulus was an Anaheim resident intere~ted in opening a restav,rant, for which there is a great need in the area. Nir. Fetropoulus appeared before the Commission and stated that this Commercial use would act as a buffer betw~en the M-1 and the commercial and R-3 uses across the street. Mr. Ray Owens, 641 South Hop~ Street, Ias Angeles, California, appeared before the Comhission and stated that he was a member of the syndicate which purchased some 60 acres starting at Ball Road and running southeriy, and that they had soid 2b acres to Mr. Kilroy. The property was purchased while still in the County, some four years ago, and the County zoned it as M-1, ~~ith a buffer strip of considerablq more thaa 50 feet. Upon anne::ati~n to Anahein, the City rezoned the area to M-1, with a P-L Zone, svhich was in line with our thinking for the property, as we desired to locate high ciass industries on this property si.miiar to other.s v,~e have located in Anaheim, such as Menasha Paper Products and the Jewnll Tea Company, and others such as aze located in Fullerton; nameZy, the Kimberiy-Clark Companq and the National Cash Register Co.
