A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING OOMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
ANAHEIM FINDING.AND DETERMINING THE NEID OF AN FMFFGENCY AMENDMENT
OF THE "M-19 LIGHT INDUSTRIAL ZONE"~ AND REOOMMENDING SAID AMENDMENT
TO THE CITY OCIUNCIL FOR ADOPTION AS AN llRGENCY ORDINANCE,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim did, on February 5, 1963, pursuant
to Ordinance 1811, amend Chapter 1So52 of the Anaheim Municipal Code "M-1, Light Industrial
Zone", to.provide for a 50 foot landscaped setback area on ali arterial streets and highways,
and
WHEREAS said City Council didy on November 5q 19639 pursuant to Resolution 63R-869,
adopt the Generai Plan for the City of Anaheim9 which plan reflects city policy of encourag-
ing and requiring landscaped setbacks along arterial highways and, pursuant to Resolution
63R-870, did amend t}~e ~irculation Element of the Geieral Plan, which provides for a new
class of arterial streetsa "Collector Streets", and
WHEREAS Chapter 18052, therefores requires the 50 foot landscaped setback on all
Collector Streets, and
WHEREAS the 50 foot restriction imposes an unnecessary hardship on persons wishing
to develop properties fronting on Collector Streets in Anaheim's Industrial Areas, and
WHEREAS Ordinance 1526 did estabiish a 25 foot landscaped setback on Cerritos and
Lewis Streeis in the So~theast Industrial Area, which setback t1~e Planning Commission finds
to be an accE.ptable.precedent9
NOW TIIEREL~RE BE IT RESOLVID that the.Planning Conmission of the City of Anaheim daes
find and determine that although said 50 foot landscaped setback is too restrictive on
hiahwavs of the collecto.r classification, the maintenance and echancement of the high
quality Df Anaheim's Industrial Areas requires some minimum landscaped setback on arterial
highway~ and does recDmmend that the City Council as an urgency measure amend Chapter

shall be provided along those properties in all Anaheim Industrial Areas which abut upon
an arterial highway as designed on the Circulation Element of the General Plan- "Arterial
Streets and Highways" as adopted and as amended from time to timeo Said setback area shall

and walks may be provided into parking areaso Said drives shall not exceed thirty (3U)
feet in.width for each curb openingo

used.for employee or customer par.kinq but where it is not so utilized, the entire fifty (50)
feet shall be landscaped and maintained as provided in (b) above.
