That ubon completion of annexation oroceedings for the Yorba Annexat.ion in August, 1964, there were two streets within the City of Anaheim named Walnut Street - one runnino between Center Street and Katella Avenue in the west- central nart oi the C:ty, and the other :ocatc~ in the ;4ortheast Industrial Area running between Taylor Street on the east and a point west o; Jefferson Street, a_ v~hich time appropriate steps were initiated to mak= the neces=ary narne cnanye. 2. That on March 23, 1965, the City Council officially changed the name of Walnut Street between Jefferson Street and a point aopror.imately 500 feet east of Van Buren Street, in the iJortheast Industrial Area to Coronado Street. 3. That the portion of Walnut Street lying between Fee Anz Street ::nd a point appror.imately 500 feet east of Van Buren Street was not r~named to Coronado Street due to the .`act that the City was in the process of adooting a orecise alignment for La Pa1ma Avenue from Jefferson Street easterly to Imoerial Highway and t'~at alignment was proposed to intersect with Walnut Street at a ooint appror.imately 500 feet east of Van Bur~n Street and then the two alionments would be coincidental as they continued easterly. 4. That the portion of Walnut Street lying westerly of Jefferson Street wzs not renamed in 1965 based on the :act that there were no plans for extendino Wainut Street westerly from Jefferson Street in the foreseeable future; however, since this portion of Walnut Street had been dedicated and appeared on all City maps as a public street, in order to avoid possible confusion at such time as the physical extension of this street is accomplished and in order to be consistent vlith street names, this portion should be renamed Coronado Street. 5. That all portions of the precise alignment of La Palma Avenue within the juris- diction of the County of Oranqe, and its easterly extension from Jefferson Street as a result of the adoption of the precise alignment has had the name 1-a Palma Avenue assigned to it. .tx ~ ~ ~ r~.' a i t NOW, TyEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Planning Commission does hereby recommend to the City Council of the City of Anaheim a street name change for that portion of Walnut Street extending westerly From Jefferson to be named Coronado Street.
