PC68-71 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING C:~Mh1ISSI0b1 OF THE CITY OF AIJAHEIN RECUt~MEi~IDING TO THE CITY Q?UNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM q CHAivGE IN NpME ~R JEFFERSO~d STREET SOUTH OF THE RIVERSIDE FREEWAY pND THE JEFFF.RSOId-•LI;•JDA VISTk SI'REET ALIGNMENT I'0 THE NORTHERN CITY LIMITS, TO TUSTIIJ AVEA]UH WHFREP,S, a request has been received from the ~range Count; Street i~laming Committee asking for a review and report relative to a street name chang~ for the Jefferson-Linda '~ Vista Street alignment within the jurisdiction of the City of Anaheim; and WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission did hold a public hearing at the City Hall in .- the City of Anaheim on March 11, 1968, at 2:00 0'clock P.h1., notice o: said public hearir.g '~ ~ Anahe mb~dunicipalgCode,atorhearrandbconsiderdevidenceTforcar,r?ith the provis,ions of the ~~ name change and to investigate and make fi.ndings and recommendationstinaconneotiondtherewith; ~i ~~, and ~ ; WHEREAS, said Commission, after due insoection, investigation, an9 study made by itself ~ and in its behalf, and a.`ter due consideration o.` all evidence and repor*_s offered at said ~ hearing, does find and determine the following facts: ~ ~ 1. That the Tustin Avenue-Jefferson Street-Linda V.ista-Rose Drive alignment is ~~• a continuous highway extending for a distance of twelve and one-fourth miles ~ ; starting at First Avenue in Tustin on the south and extending to Brea-Olinda i Boulevard in Brea on the north. i ; 2. That the oortion traversing the City of Anaheim from Santa Ana Canyon Road to ~ the Riverside Freeway is designated or. the Circulation Hlement of the General Plan as a primary hichway, and the portion within the northeast industrial area ' :rom the Riverside Freeway to the northerly City Boundary is designated as a ~ ~ mejor arterial highway. 1 ~ i 3. That the Oranae County Street Naming Committee has suqgested the street name o` Tu=_tin Avenue south of the Riverside Freeway, and Linda Vista Street nortnerly of the Riverside Freeway to Brea-Olinda Boulevard~ 4• That on Auqust 1, 1960, the An~Se~,m p~anniny Commission recommended to the City _ Council that the street name of Linda Vista Street be assigned to Je.`ferson _ Street and the new Jefferson Linda Vista Street aliqnment northerly of the Riverside Freev~ay and Tustin Avenue south of the Riverside Freeway, and on August 30, 1966, the Anaheim City Council concurred with this recommendation and forwarded it to the Committee. 5. That the Brea City Council on February 21, 1968, adopted a resolution exoressing that City's intent to change the riame of Rose Drive, within the City of Brea, to Linda Vista Street subject to similar action being taken by the County of Orange and the Cities of Anaheim, Placentia, and Yorba Linda. 6. That although the Planning Commission previously recommended to the City Council ~ that Jefferson S~reet north of the Riverside Freeway be named Linda Vista Stre2t, ~ and that oortion south of the freeway be named Tustin Avenue, after further i: consideration relative to cooperating with other municipalities and the Orange County Street IJaming Committee in an attemot to establish continuity in the names of streats as they traverse the County, and after additional consideration of the advantages that would accrue to Anaheim in terms o: freeway signing, the Planning i Commission deems it advisable to continue the long-estab:ished name of Tustin kvenue °rom Santa Ana Canyon Road northeriy through Anaheim's Northeast Industrial ' P.rea, and into Placentia and Yorba Linda. Fs3~ :+t:~:P~ -- ~ -~_" ~ , . ~ F , r t ' ? i NOW, THEREFURE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Planning Commission does hereby recommend to the City Council of the City of Anaheim that the name of Jef=~rson Street southerly of the Riverside Freeway and Jefferson Street to a point approximately 8•45 fe2t south oF Coronado Avenue and the proposed Jefferson-Linda Vista Street alignment north of the RivPrside Freeway extending to the Anaheim City Limits, be changed to Tustin Avenue at such time as the Jefferson-Linda Vista Street alignment is compla+.ed to Orangethorpe Av enu e.
