PLAN AMIIvaMENT N0. 122 BE APPROVEii ~ WHERENS, the City Coun~ii of the City of Ar.aheim did acopt. a General Plan by Resolution No. 69R-644, showing the general description ard extent uf land uses within the City and indicating the p:esent bel~ef of the Councii as to possibie future development and re- development of land witnin the City; and WHEREAS, the CiLy Council of the City of Anaheim did direct the staff of ihe Development ; Services Department to revie~~ the General Plan land use desic,nations and to determine whether there has been a ci~ange in land use character or po*entiai within a study area in the Santa Ana Canyon bounded Uy Santa Ana Canyor. Rna~~, Imparial t;ighway, Esperanza Road and Eucalyptus Drive, to warrant a-.hange in the low-density resid~r~tia.t drnsities of that area; and - WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission did f;oid pubiic hearings in the City Hall in the City of Anaheim Auyust ,?4, ;eptember 21, and Ociober `~, 1970, notice of said public hearings having been ciuly givan a5 required by law and in a_co_dan~~~ with the provisions cf the ' Anaheim Municipal Code., to hear and consider evidenc~a i'or ~nd against said Amendment to the ' `.r ill;. General Plan; an~l s~ WHEREAS, said Con?mission after due inspection, in~~~stigation., and study made by itseJ.f and in its behalf anJ a*ter due considera±ion of 3ii ~vidence and reports offered at said hearings, DOES HEREBY IID!D; 1. That the Anaheim and County ~f Orange Planniny Commissions have held joint meetings to ~.f;s~uss the problems and potentials u~ the canyon, ~;~ order to form a ur.ited ef~ort in planning for the deveiopment of this unique portion of Orange County. 6. That ttie area from the Santa Ana River northerly to Espera:rzz Road iias been placed within the scope of influence of the City of Anaheim as a result of action taken by the local Agency Formation Commission on August 1?, 1970, and the Planning Commission deems that densities which are projected for the area south of the Santa Ana River should also be extended to the area north of the river. 8. That the Commission has determined that Exhibit "A" should be amended to delete the regional park designation in view of recent ar,tion by the Orarge County Board of Supervisors deletinq current fun~;; for the park. 9. That eleven persons apqeared before the Planning Commission representing property owners in the study area, favorinq low-medium density for the area, and that four psrsons reoresenting various homeowners association in the Canyon area appeared before the Commission favoring retention of the low-density residential designation on the General Plan. -. ~ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE5 OLVED, that the Anaheim City Planning Commission does reaffirm its position that the Santa Ana Canyon area should develop as a low density residential community and hereby recommends to the City Council of the City of Anaheim that Exhibit "A" of General Plan Amendment No. 122 be approved as amended, on the basis of the aforementionecl findings.
