THAT PETITION FOR VARIANCE N0. 2414 HE DENIED
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commlaslon of the City of Mahelm did receive a vecified Petitinn for Verience [rom

PERMIT SERAICE, Post Office Box 364, La Puente, California 9174', Agent of c~ertain real prop-
erty situatad in the City of Anaheim, County of Orange, State of California, described as The
North 200 feet of the West 200 feet ef the Northwest '~ of the Northwest '~ of the Northweat '~
of the Northwest '~ of Section 22, Township 4 South, Range 10 Weat, S.B,R. & M., in the Rancho
San Juan Cajon de Santa Ana; SUBJECT to an easement for public roads over the West 30 feet and
the North 30 feet of said land, and RESERVING therefrom an easement ior road purposes, together
with the exclusive right to dedicate said easement for public road purposea over the Easterly
20 feet of the Westerly 50 feet and Che Southerly 20 feet of the Northerly 5Q feet of said land;
and

WHEREAS, naid' Commission, after due inspectlon, investlgetion, and study made by itself and fn its behelf,
and eEter due coneidaation af all evidence and reports offeced at seid heacing, does find end determine the Eollowing
fecta:
1. That.the petitioner requ.ests variances from the Aiiaheim Municipal Code
as follows:' ,
a. SECTION 18.62.090(B-1) - Minimum distance between free-standing
• si ns. (300 feet required; 70 feet
proposed)
b. SECTION 18.62.090(B-1) - Maximum number of free-standing signs.
(3 proposed; 1 permitted)
SECTIUN 18.62.090(B-2) - Minimum sign height.
(8 feet required; 6~ feet proposed)
2. That signing as propo~ed is far in excess of signing permitted within
the Sign Ordinance, and to grant subject petition would be establish-
in3 an undesirable precedent wherein every other service station in
Anaheim could request similar signing.
3. That the Planning Commission earlier in 1972 had denied a similar
requect witli a finding that approval would establish a precedent
for mass si~3ning of other service stations throughout the city, and
no changes have occurred to warrant favorable consideration of this
petition.

That the petitione~r is proposing to increase t~he number of signs on
these service station sites from four to eight times that permitted
by Code, thereby automatically granting the peticioner a privilege
not enjoyed by other commercial and industrial developments through-
out the city.
5. That there are nc exceptional or extraordi.nar.y circumstances or
conditions applicable to the property involved or to tSie intended
use of the property that do not apply generally to the property or
class of use in the same vicinity and zone.
6. That the requested variance is not necessary for the preservati.on
and enjoyment of a substantial property right possessed b,y other
property in the same vicinity and zone and denied'to the property
in question.
7. That the reque~~e^^ variance will be materially detrimental to the
public wel£are o.. injurious to the property or improvements in such
vi.~inity and zone in which the property is located.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE YT RESOLVED thet the Aneheim Clty Plenning Commission does hereby deny subject
