WHEREAS, the City Plenning Ccmmissian did hold o publ(c hearing at ;'!~e City Hall in the City of Aneheim
on Auguet 21, 1972 at 2:00 o'clock P.M., no~?ce of seid public heering heving been duly given
es required by law and in accordence with the provisions of the Meheim Municipel code, Chepter 18.66, to hear
and consider evidence for and egeinst seid proposed conditlonel use and to investigate end reke [indings and
r?commendations in connection therewith; and
WHEREAS, seid Commission, efter due Inspection, investigetion, end study made by itsel[ end in its bc
helE, and after due considewtion o[ all evidence end repoRs offered et seid hearing, does [ind end determine the
tollowing [ects:
1. That the petitioner requests variances from the Anaheim Municipal
Code as follows:
a. 5~CTION 18.62.090(H-1) - Minimum distance between free-standing
si ns. (300 feet required; 23 feet
proposed)
b. SECTION 18.G2.090(B-1) - Maximum number of free-standina sians.
(3 proposed; 1 permitted)
c. S~C71I~N 18.62.090(E-2) - Minimum sign height.
~" (8 feet required; 6~ feet propo~ed)
2. That sign3ng as proposed is far in excess of signing permitted within
the Sign 9rdinance, and to grant subject petition would be establish-
ing an undesirable precedent ~rhez'ein every uther service station in
Anaheim could request similar signing.
3. That the Planning Commis~ion earlier in 1972 had denied a similar
request with a finding that approval would establish a precedent
for mass signing of other service stations throughout the city, and
no changes have occurred to warrant favorable considerati.on of this
petitton.
4. That the petitioner is proposing to increase the number of signs on
these servi.ce station si.tes from four to eighC times tlaat permit4:~d
by Code, thereby au~omatically granting the petitioner a privileye
not enjoyed by other commercial and industrial developmen*_s through-
out the city.
