PC73-79 ~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNiNG COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM THAT PETITION FOR VARIANCE N0. 2490 BE DENIED WHEREAS, thc City Planning Commission of the City of Anaheim did receive a verified Petition for Variancc from ATLANTIC RICHFIELD, 1786 WPst Lincoln Avenue, Anaheim, California 92804, Lessee; P II R COMPANY, 1620 East Vermont, Anaheim, California 92805, Aget.` of certain real property situated in the City of Anaheim, County of Orange, State of California, described as The South 200.00 feet of. the West 200.00'feet of the Southwest Quarter of Section 1, Township 4 South, Range 10 West, in the Rancho San Juan Cajon de Santa Ana, as per map recorded in Book tl, Page 10 of Miscellaneous ,taps, in the office of the County Recorder of said County; and • WFIEREAS, the City Planning Commission did hold a public hearing at ihe City Hall in the City of Anahcim on April 16, 1973, at 2:00 o'clock p.m., notice of said public hearing having been duly given as required by law and in accordance with the orovisions of the Anaheim Municipal Code, Chnpter 18.68, to hear and consider evidence for and againat said proposed variance and to investigate and make findings and re:ommendations in connection therewith; and WHEREAS, ~aid Commission, after due inspection, investigation, and study made by itsclf and in its bchalf, and after due considcration of ali evi.~lence and reports offered at said hearing, does find and determine the Collowing facts: That the petitioncr requests. veriances from •the Anaheiin ~Municipal Code as follows: a. (300 feet required; 20 feet proposed) c. SECTION 18.62.090B(2) - nMinimum heit~ht of free-atanding ai~na. (8 feet required; $~lls]l~& Proposed) 2. That approving the requested waivers would establish an undesirable precedent since other service stations would also request price aigns, 3. That at the time "self-serve" eigns were requested, they were approve~ faT id~n4i' fication of the self-serve pumps, however, it was deterroitted thet the oae piicce.elgn on the corner pole ~rould be adequate. 4. That the proposed "self-serve" signs with the large price ~igns atte~~ied E~i~4"eCo constitutes too large and too many signs for the praperty. S. That the proposed eigning is a poor way to advertise the oil companies' prE~;4s«ta and it insults the intelligence of the motoring public, 6. NOY~, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Maheim City Planning Commission does hereby deny subject Petition [or Variance on the basis of the aforementioned finds.
