No. Pcsa•1~ A RESOLUTIt~N OF THE ANAHEIM CIIY PI.ANNING COMMISSION RE~OMMENDING CI7Y COUNCIL ADOPTION OI' 7H~ ANAHEIM REu0R1' PUBLIC REALM LANQSCAPE PROGAAM WHEREAS, In 1989, the City of Anaheim initlated the Commercial Recreation Area Enhanaemont Program and TrunsportAtion/Land Use Strategy Plen. The ~oal of the Cfry's offorts was to address the neAd for visual enhancement and Infrastructure improvements In the Commercial Rocreatlon Area. Specifically, the Commercial Recreation Area Enhancement Program'ss gnal was to comprehansively address signage, landscaping, and other land use and site development issues. The Transportation/Is~nd Uso Strategy Plan's goal was to assess existing and future transportation conditions and recommend Improvements commensurate wfth land use intensfffcatlon proJections over the next 2U years, In 1990, in connection with these studiea, the City Councll adopted a revised C-R Zoning Urciinsnce and established Design Guidelinas tor the area. ?he Commercial Recreation Area l~as be~an redesignated tha Anahelm Resort; and WHEREAS, the Anaheim Resort encompasses approximately 1,046 acres wlilr,h are de~ignatad on the City of Anaheim Gener~l F~lan for Commerclal Recr~tlon 1.3nd lises (the Anaheim Resort boundaries are shown in Attachment A to this Resolution which is Incarporated herein); and WHEREAS, In 1993, the ~City Cauncil approved the bisneyland Resort Specific Plan and EIR, a proposal for approximatoly 489.7 acres In tPie Anaheim Resort ta devolop an intematlonal multi-day resort Includir~~ a second theme park, hot~al rooms, internal transportation systems, publfc parking facilities, administretive ofiices and ongoing modificati~n of the existinp Disnoyland thome park. In 19J4, the City Council subsequently approve~ the Hotel Circle SpecHic Plan to provlde for a development of 700 new hotel rooms on approx(r~iately 6.8 acres in the Anahoim Resort; and ~NFi~REAS, in order to provfda a long range comprE~hensfve plan for future davelopment for the remaining prc~pertios in tho An~heim Resort and to further im~lement thd goals of the above-noted stud(o~, City staff began work in 1991 on the Anahelm R~.~sort Specific Plan end EIR; and WHEREAS, on August ~3, 1994, tho Plann(ng Commission recommonded that the City Councll adopt t~~e Anaheim Resort Specific Plan No. 92-2; and WHER~AS, the ~lnahalm Resort Public Realm Landscape Program (on filo with tlio Planning Depa~tment) is intendtxl to set forth the landscape concepts proposed for the public streets (or Public Noalm) within or bordering the Rnahoim Resort. SpecKic deta~ls show~ing how the concepts will be implemented are shown in the Anaheim Resort Spccitfc Plan and The Disneyland Aesort Spacific Plan respective Design Plnns (Sectipn 5.0 of e~ch document). The design concept varies (or each of these streets and is dependent upon the purpose of the street.
