RESOLUTION NO. 82R-402
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 341
PROHIBITING THE POSSESSION FOR SALE AND/OR
DISTRIBUTION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA.
WHEREAS, allowing the sale of drug par~phernalia gives
the impro.per impress'ion that the government of California condones
the use of controlled substances when in fact the use of such
controlled substances is illegal; and
WHEREAS, permitting the sale of drug paraphernalia
encourages experimentation and use of drugs and controlled
substances; and
WHEREAS, the use of drugs and controlled substan.ces is
responsible for the majority of cri~nal offenses committed in
cities; and
WHEREAS, there is now pending in the State Legislature
Senate Bill 341 propos.ing to prohibit the possession for sale andl
or distribution of drug" paraphernalia; and
WHEREAS, the passage of the proposed legislation is vital
to each community's war against drug abuse.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Ci ty Council of the
City of Anahe~ that it strongly supports the pass~ge of Senate
Bill 341 which will prohibit the possession for 'sale and/~r
distribution of drug paraphernalia and which will discourage the
experimentation and abuse of drugs in the State of California.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that "the City .Clerk cause certified
copies o~ this Resolutjon to be forwarded to the 'Honorable' Edmund
G. Brown, Jr., Governor of the State of California; to the
Honorable John Seymour, State Senator for the 35th 'Senatorial
Districtj the Honorable Paul B. Carpenter, State Senator for the
37th Senatorial District, the Honorable Ross Johnson, Ass'emblyman
for the 69th Assembly District; the Honorable John Lewis.
Assemblyman for the 70th Assembly District; the Honorable Chet Ray,
Assemblyman for the 71st Assembly District; and the Honorable
Richard Robinson, Assemblyman for the 72nd Assembly District.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the
City Council of the City of AnaheimZ~~~2.
