A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPER-
VISORS OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO DIRECT I.TS
STAFF TO COMMENCE STUDIES FOR CERTAIN ARTERIAL
HIGHWAYS.
WHEREAS, the Master Plan of. Arterial Highways for
the County of Orange provides for certain future arterial high-
ways connecting the. Santa Ana Canyon area with areas in and
surrounding the City of Orange; and
WHEREAS, the Master Plan of Streets and Highways for
the City of Anaheim is in general conformity with the Master
Plan of Arterial Highways for the County of Orangej" and
WHEREAS, the location and precise route of certain of
these future arterial highways, particularly Weir Canyon Road,
will be the subject of extensive study and review leading to an
indeterminate date of construction; and
WHEREAS, there will be an increasing need for making
an arterial connection generally between Katella Avenue and
Santa Ana Canyon Road to provide general communication for the
area, to provide shorter routes to existing public schools, and
to relieve traffic on alternate more lengthy routes: and
WHEREAS, although portions of the alignment of Weir
Canyon Road are indeterminate at this time certain" portions
are presently reasonably determinate, particula.rly in the vicinity
of the interchang~ with the Riverside Freeway~ and
WHEREAS, Serrano Avenue, as indicated on the Master
Plan of Arterial Highways of the County of Orange, can be
reasonably located at this time and that arterial highway can be
extended to and made to connect with the portions of Weir Canyon
Road that can be located and aligned at this time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the .City Council of
the City of Anaheim that it requests and it does hereby request
that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange direct its
staff to commence precise alignment studies for an arterial high-
way connection between Serrano Avenue and the RiveFside Freeway
in general conformity with said arterial highway ro'ute as indica-
ted on a map on file in the Department of Public Works Engineer-
ing Division, City of Anaheim.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this
resolution be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Orange and that there be attached to said copy a copy of the
map to which reference has been made in this resolution.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me
this 17th day of August, 1971.
