1. CALL TO ORDER: Chair Camargo called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Commissioner Sanchez.
3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
4. SCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
5. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Chair Camargo presented the June 17, 2021 minutes to the Commissioners for
changes or corrections. Commissioner Maahs made a motion to approve the June 17, 2021 minutes, seconded by
Commissioner Sanchez. There were five votes in favor to approve the minutes; Chair Camargo accepted the minutes.
6. SUB-COMMITTEES:
a) Center Gallery: Holly Unruh reported the Downtown Anaheim Community Center is now open. The Anaheim Art
Association has installed an exhibit that is currently displayed in the Center Gallery. Holly also reported staff is
looking for more artists to schedule for the upcoming year. Questions were answered regarding the application for
the Center Gallery.
b) Public Art Program: Chair Camargo reported a community meeting was held in District 4 and hosted by Mothers in
Action where the Public Art Program was presented. Holly Unruh encouraged the Commission to continue
networking with the community for feedback of the Public Art Program. Questions were answered regarding an
informational flyer that can be shared with the community.
c) Poet Laureate: Holly Unruh reported the recommendation is scheduled to go to City Council for approval in August.
d) Heritage: Jane Newell reported the plaque information has been shared with the consultant.
e) Culture: Commissioner Sanchez reported he will be meeting with Jane Newell to rediscover the intentions of the
sub-committee.
7. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS:
Holly Unruh shared the new summer Activity Guide and the Anaheim Summer Series sponsorship opportunities with the
Commission.
Jane Newell shared historic information on the Pearson Park Amphitheatre with the Commission.
Commissioner Arellano reported the Dia de los Muertos event will be held on October 29th.

Chair Camargo reported he will be working with a small organization that will be holding a back to school fundraiser for
children and youth in Anaheim. The fundraiser will receive donations for backpacks and school supplies.
Commissioner Maahs reported there will be a Mariachi Festival fundraiser held on August 20th at St. Anthony Claret, and
the Historical Society will be hosting their first in-person event on October 10th at Pearson Park.
8. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Camargo adjourned the meeting at 6:59 p.m.
