ANAHEIM BLVD., ANAHEIM, CA 92805 December 1, 2021 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: STAFF PRESENT: Lynn Cudd, Chair Anaheim Sporn, Community Services Manager Nichole Rupp, Vice Chair JJ Jimenez, Interim Parks Manager Ryan Balius Eleanor Granflor, Senior Secretary James Cook Tony Flores STAFF ABSENT: Yogesh Shah Sjany Larson-Cash, Director A G E N D A A C T I O N T A K E N 1. CALL TO ORDER: Chair Cudd called the meeting to order at 6:13 p.m. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Cook led the Pledge of Allegiance. 3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None. 4. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: None. 5. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Chair Cudd presented the October 27, 2021 minutes to the Commissioners for changes or corrections. Commissioner Balius made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Vice Chair Rupp. The motion was approved with six votes in favor; Chair Cudd accepted the minutes. 6. REPORTS a) Parks Activity Report – September/October: JJ Jimenez presented the report and highlighted scheduled maintenance for each sector, mainline breaks, the temporary closure at Boysen Park, the Invasive Shothole Borer tree removal at Pioneer Park, the partnership with the Orange County Conservation Corps for the removal of non-native trees and plants at Deer Canyon, replacement of playground equipment at Ponderosa Park, shade tree program offered by TreePower, and the Facility Scheduling section’s special events and sports games. Questions were answered regarding mainline breaks, the demonstration provided by Hunter Irrigation to staff, and a policy for vehicles to drive on park property in which the vehicles can damage sprinkler heads . b) Park Ranger Report – October: Anaheim Sporn presented the report and highlighted the number of patrols, patrons, and public contacts made by Park Rangers. There was a slight decrease in public contacts and public assists, and an increase in curfew and vendor activity. Anaheim clarified the category “Public Substance Abuse” that was questioned at the last Commission meeting – it is the possible use of anything illegal substance other than alcohol. c) Parks Capital Project Progress Report: JJ Jimenez presented the report and highlighted Aloe Promenade, Citrus Park, and the Ross Park Play Area. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: Anaheim Sporn reported the Nutcracker Holiday Village will take place this Saturday, December 4th, the Southern California Philharmonic on December 18th at Pearson Park Amphitheatre. Eleanor Granflor shared the 2022 meeting schedule with the Commission. 8. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Cudd adjourned the meeting at 6:58 p.m.
