1. CALL TO ORDER: Chair Cudd called the meeting to order at 6:08 p.m.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Cook led the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMUNICATION: None.
4. SCHEDULED COMMUNICATION: None.
5. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Chair Cudd presented the December 1, 2021 minutes to the Commissioners
for changes or corrections. Commissioner Cook made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by
Commissioner Shah. The motion was approved with four votes in favor; Chair Cudd accepted the minutes.
6. REPORTS
a) Recreation, Human & Neighborhood Services Activity Report – October/November: Anaheim Sporn
presented the report and highlighted after school youth programs, the Tiny Tots Academy, facility rental
and programming, Park Rangers, Special Events, Pearson Park Amphitheatre rentals, Contract Classes,
Aquatics, activities held at Oak Canyon Nature Center, Active Older Adult Programming, the Great
American Smokeout Event held at Ponderosa Park Family Resource Center, food distributions and meal
programs, the city’s annual Health Expo held at Center Greens, the Dia De Los Muertos Community Altar
Showcase, Neighborhood Services Community Outreach, and Neighborhood Services District Community
Meetings.
Questions were answered regarding the art murals at Citrus Park, the programming at the Anaheim
Accessibility Center, the aquatics registration breakdown of each location, and the upcoming Nei ghborhood
Services District Community Meetings.
b) Parks Activity Report – November/December: JJ Jimenez presented the report and highlighted the recent
rains and water savings, the loss of trees and fallen tree limbs due to Santa Ana winds, field renovations,
memorial tree plantings, the broken gates at Anaheim Coves due to vandalism, the Anaheim Hills
Elementary sport fields renovation, partnership with Public Works to improve the John Marshall Park
parking lot, the Loara High School CIF Southern Section Division 14 League Championship game held at

Glover Stadium, and the Community Resources Fair hosted by Orange County Supervisor, Doug Chaffee ’s
office held at Twila Reid Park.
Commissioner Balius recommended for some brighter lighting at Maxwell Dog Park in the areas where
there are hills, and to also have the low tree branches assessed at Maxwell Park.
c) Park Ranger Report – December: Anaheim Sporn presented the report and highlighted the number of
patrols, patrons, public contacts, curfew and skate boarding contacts made by Park Rangers. There was a
decrease in numbers due to the cold weather and less Park Ranger patrols due to staffing. Anaheim stated
staff is working to train new Park Rangers in order to maximize the number of patrols.
d) Parks Capital Project Progress Report: JJ Jimenez presented the report and highlighted the Brookhurst
Teen Center, Little Pine Park, and River Park.
Questions were answered regarding the La Palma Park Improvements project funding.
