86R-022
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM APPROVING THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF
THE BEACH BOULEVARD SUPER STREETS
DEMONSTRATION PROJECT STUDY.
WHEREAS, on March 5, 1985, the City of Anaheim entered
into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Orange County
Transportation Commission for the Beach Boulevard Super Streets
Demonstration Project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim is a responsible agency for
the Beach Boulevard Super Streets Demonstration Project as defined
in Section 21069 of the California Environmental Quality Act; and
WHEREAS, the goals and objectives of the Beach Boulevard
Super Streets Demonstration Project are to develop conceptual
engineering plans, environmental documentation, and a financing
plan for the implementation of high flow arterial improvements to
Beach Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, a Draft Final Report and Draft Program
Environmental Impact Report have been prepared for the Beach
Boulevard Super Streets Demonstration Project; and
WHEREAS, the improvements recommended for Beach Boulevard
have been identified based on (1) improving traffic level of
service, (2) minimizing right-of-way acquisition, environmental
impacts, and economic impacts, and (3) cost-effectiveness.
NOW, THEREFORE, contingent upon the certification of the
Final Program Environmental Impact Report, the City Council of the
City of Anaheim does hereby resolve as follows:
1. To adopt the improvements to Beach Boulevard within the
incorporated limits of the City of Anaheim listed in Exhibit 1 of
this resolution;
2. To restrict on-street parking during peak traffic hours
on Beach Boulevard within the incorporated limits of the City of
Anaheim;
3. To approve the findings of the Beach Boulevard Super
Streets Demonstration Project Draft Program Environmental Impact
Report.
4. To request the Orange County Transportation Commission to
program the recommended Beach Boulevard improvements in the 1986
State Transportation Improvement Program; and
5. To endorse the allocation of Orange County Unified
Transportation Trust state highway funds to the Beach Boulevard
Super Streets Demonstration Project.
