RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING THE
EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT FOR THE JOINT CON-
STRUCTION, INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE BY THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM AND THE CITY OF GARDEN GROVE
OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEM AND INTERSECTION
LIGHTING AT KATELLA AND EUCLID AVENUES.

WHEREAS, considerable traffic congestion presently
exists and is progressively increasing at the intersection of
Katella Avenue and Euclid Avenue, said intersection being at
the jointure of the City Limits lines of the City of Anaheim
and the City of Garden Grove, so that one corner of said inter-
section, to wit, the southwest corner, is in the City of Garden
Grove and the other three corners are in the City of Anaheim;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim and the City of Garden
Grove are willing to cooperate with each other in the instal-
lation of the required traffic signal and the incidental road
work in connection with such installation, and are willing to
divide the cost of installation and the cost of maintenance
and upkeep on the basis of three-fourths of such cost by the
City of Anaheim and one-fourth of such cost by the City of
Garden Grove; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim and the City of Garden
Grove desire to enter into an agreement for the joint instal-
lation of said traffic signal, intersection lighting, and the
incidental road work in connection therewith, and to provide
for the maintenance of said traffic signal system;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that an agreement be made and entered
into by and between the City of Anaheim and the City of Garden
Grove for the joint installation, construction and maintenance
of a traffic signal system and intersection lighting, together
with incidental road work, at the intersection of Katella Avenue
and Euclid Avenue, the terms and conditions of which agreement
shall be as follows:
1. That the City of Anaheim shall be the agent for
the City of Garden Grove in the negotiations leading to and the
letting of contracts for the installation of the intersection
lighting and the incidental road work and construction in con-
nection therewith.
2. That the City of Anaheim shall have Jurisdiction
of the construction area within the City of Garden Grove during
the period of time from the commencement of the installation of
the signal until its completion.
3. That it is estimated that the cost of the entire
installation, including the incidental road work, will be
$8,900.00, and the City of Garden Grove, upon the execution of
said agreement, shall deposit with the City of Anaheim the sum
of $2,300.00, being the estimated cost of its one-quarter share
of the installation.
4. That upon the completion of work, the City of
Anaheim shall submit to the City of Garden Grove an itemized

statement of all of the costs of installation, including the
expenses of advertising for bids and departmental expenses of
the City of Anaheim in supervising and inspecting said instal-
lation. Within thirty (30) days after the submission of such
itemized statement, the City of Garden Grove shall pay such
additional amounts as have been found to be incurred in the
actual cost of the installation, or the City of Anaheim shall
remit any excess of the deposit made by the City of Garden Grove
OVer the actual pro rata cost to the City of Garden Grove.
5. That upon the completion of said work, the traffic
signal shall be maintained by the City of Anaheim, and the City
of Garden Grove shall pay to the City of Anaheim maintenance
and energy costs in the same ratio to the total cost for such
maintenance and energy as is heretofore set forth for the
installation, to wit, the City of Garden Grove shall pay one-
fourth of such total cost of energy and maintenance. The charge
for energy shall not be construed to be the cost figure to the
City of Anaheim but shall be based upon a service rate for such
installations as established by the Public Utilities Department
of the City of Anaheim.
6. That all bills for such maintenance and energy
cost shall be paid promptly by the City of Garden Grove to the
City of Anaheim upon demand by the Ci~y of Anaheim.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City
Clerk be, and they are hereby, authorized to execute said
agreement for and on behalf of the City of Anaheim.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by
me this 27th day of October, 1959.
