A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM CHANGING THE NAME OF TIfAT PORTION
OF STANTON AVENUE, IN THE CITY OF ANAHE 1M, NOW
KNOWN AS STATE HIGHWAY NO. 39, TO BEACH BOULE-
VARD .
WHEREAS, on August l7, 1959, the City Planning Commission
did duly pass and adopt its Resolution No. 43 - Series 1959-60,
rec01lllllending to the City Council that in order to create less con-
fusion to the public and give continuous streets the same name
between County and City territories, the name of that portion of
Stanton Avenue, in the City of Anaheim, now known as State Highway
No. 39, should be changed to Bertch Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that s.id change of name
has been recQBMended by the Orange County Street Naming Committee
and endorsed by the League of California Cities, the Post Office
Department and the Southern California Automobile Club; and that
the Cities of Buena Park, W'est~inster and Huntington Beach have
signified their intention to adopt the name "Beach Boulevard" for
those portions of sa id street continu ing through the ir respect ive
Ci ties; and
WHEREAS, after a thorouGh study of the matter, the City
Couneil does find that the assifl'Ullent oft.be name "Beach Boulevard"
to that portion of Stanton Avenue, in the City of Anaheim, now
kaownas State Highway No. 39 will result in 188S confusion to the
PtlbUc, and that by reason of the foregoing facts pub1Jc: convenience
and necessity require that said name be changed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Anaheim that the name of that portion of Stanton Avenue, in
the City of Anaheim, now known as State Highway No. 39, be changed
to Beach Boulevard, said change to be made one year from date
h.reor; and that for a period of three years after the effective
date of said change of name, signs bearing the new street name with
the old name underneath shall be maintained.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by me this
25th day of August, 1959.
