A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA, PERTAINING TO THE
POSITION OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM WITH RESPECT
T0 DOCKET NO. 7984 ET AL., SOUTHERN TRANS-
CONTINENTAL SERVICE CASE, BEFORE THE CIVIL
AERONAUTICS BOARD.

WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim, California, is a muni-
corporation situated i.n Orange County approximately 14
east of the Long Beach Minicipal kirport; and
WHEREAS, the population of Anaheim has increased from
14,000 in 1952 to over 78,000 in 1958; and
WHEREAS, Anaheim, like so many cities in Southern
California has recently experienced tremendous growth in
industrial and residential construction, and the industrial
and economic outlook for the future is most promising; and
WHEREAS, there are located in Anaheim many large
industrial and research organizations, many of whom are
engaged in the manufacture of aircraft assemblies, jet engine
components, and other products vital to the national defense;
and
w.HEaEAS, there are also located in the City of Anaheim
numerous industries engaged in the production and manufacture
of chemicals, aircraft parts, electrical parts and other
products; and
WHEREAS, the only other major airports serving the
Anaheim vicinity are the International Airport in Inglewood
and the Lockheed Terminal at Burbank, both of which are
located a far greater distance from Anaheim and traffic con-
ditions make them even more inconvenient and time-consuming
to reach than even their relative distance from Anaheim would
indicate; and
WHEREAS, the Long Beach Municipal Airport by reason
of its much shorter distance and less congested traffic is
needed for use as a major airport by the residents and business-
men of this city and the neighboring areas.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Anaheim that the rapid industrial, residential and
business growth in the City of Anaheim and surrounding areas has
created a substantial market for air transportation. That the
needs and convenience of the traveling public require that this
area be provided with more adequate air transportation. That
the Long Beach Municipal Airport, as the closest and most
convenient major airport to the City of Anaheim and its residents,
should be designated as a terminal or intermediate point on all
domestic trunkline routes presently certificated to serve Southern
California and on all domestic trunkline routes which may be
certificated to serve Southern California as a result of the
decision in the Southern Transcontinental Service Case, Docket
No. 7984 et al., to the extent that this is legally possible.

BE IT FURTHER RESULVED that the adoption by the City
Council of this resolution is not to be construed as favoring or
endorsing the application of any specific airline in this proceed-
ing. The interest of the City of Anaheim is to assist the Civil
Aeronautics Board in its determination of the need for ne~ and
improved scheduled airline service between the Long Beach Municipal
Airport and the points within the scope of the proceeding.
THE FOREGUING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by
me this 21st day of April , 1959.
