OF ANAHEIM ACCEPTING THE SERVICES OF THE
.AMERICAN LEGION. ANAHED.r POST NO. 72, AMERI-
CAN LEGION LIGHT DUTY RESCUE TEAMS I~HIP
AS AN AUXILIARY UNIT IN THE ANAHEIM FIRE DE-
PARTMENT'S RESCUE OPERATIONS PROGRAM, AND THE
PROGRAM OF ORGANIZATION AS OUTLINED BY TEE
AMERICAN LEGION'S NATIONAL SECURITY COMMISSION

~~AS, the City of Anaheim adopted Resolution No. 1646
on Deeember 28th, 1948, being a "Resolution of the City Council of the City
of Anaheim agreeing to follow the rules and regulations established by the
California State Disaster Council", and
WHEREAS. Section 1599.1 of the Military and Veterans Code,
Chapter 104, Statutes 1946, 1st Extraordinary Session, provides:
"The California State Disaster Couneil shall
establish by rule and regulation various classes
of disaster service workers and the scope of the
duties of each class. The California State Dis-
aster Council shall also adopt rules and regula...
tions prescribing the manner in which disaster
service workers of each class are to be registered.
All such rules and regulations shall be designed
to facilitate the paying of workmen's compensa...
tion", and
WHEREAS, the California State Disaster Council on April 4, 1946,
adopted rules and regulations establishing classes of disaster service workers,
the scope of duties of each class and the manner of registration of such volun-
teer workers: and
WHEREAS, Section 1599.2 of the Military and Veterans Code,
Chapter 104, Statutes 1946. 1st Extraordinary Session, provides:
IIAny disaster council which both agrees to follow
the rules and regulations established by the
California State Disaster Council pursuant to
the provisions of Section 1599.1 of this code and
substantially complies with such rules and regu-
lations shall be certified by the California State
Disaster Council. Upon making such certification,
and not before, the disester council becomes an
accredited disaster council" . and
WHEREAS. the City of Anaheim has registered and will hereafter
register volunteer Disaster Service Workers; and
WHEREAS. the City Council of the City of Anaheim did set up
an "Accredited Disaster Council". which was duly certified by the California
State Disaster Council in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 1024,
Statutes 1945. and Chapter 104, Statutes 1946, 1st Extraordinary Session: and
are now operating under a Civil Defense and Disaster Preparedness Operations
Plan: and

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim now deems
it necessary to further develop the City's Civil Defense and Disaster Prepared-
ness Operations Plan, by incorporating the American Legion Light Dut;y Rescue
Operations Program Unit as an Auxiliary Unit in the Anaheim Fire Department's
Rescue Operations Program, in accordance with Office of Civil Defense Mobiliza-
tion Advisory Bulletin No. 228. November 6, 1958 and Federal Civil Defense Act,

Public Law 920, 8lst Congress, and. other applicable laws, to assure a contin-
uous and satisfactory state of readiness.

Nmi, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of .Anaheim does
accept the services of the American Legion, Anaheim Post No. 72. American Legion
Light Duty Rescue Teams Membership, and the FrOgI'M of Organization as outlined
by the American Legionts National Security Commission;
The City Clerk is hereby instructed to send two certified copies hereof to the
California State Disaster Council.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is signed and approved by me this
