A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ANAHEIM APPROPRLATIN:7 CERTAIN FUNDS FOR THE
ADVERTISING, PRCK)TION ANDSTACHN:7 OF THE CITY
OFANAHE 1M CEN'rENN 1AL CELEBRA.T ION; AUTHCIi IZIN:7
A CONTRACT WITH THE ANAHEHl CHAMBER Of COM-
MERCE F<Jl. THE DOING OF SAID ADVERTISING AND THE
STAGING OF SAID CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION; .AND
PROVIDING FOR COMPENSATION TO THE CHAMBER OF
COMMERCE FOR SERVICES TO BE RENDERED TO THE
CITY Of ANAHEIM.
WHEREAS, the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, located
within the City of Anaheim, has special knowledge, experience
and faci lities for promotion and advertising work; and
WHEREAS, the origin of the City of Anaheim dates to
the year 1851 and the year 1951 is the year in which the One
Hundredth Anniversary or Centennial of the origin of the City
of Anaheim takes place; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Anaheim
deems it in the best interest of the City of Anaheim to pro-
mote and advertise the One Hundredth Anniversary of the origin
of the City of Anaheim, and to stage pageants and other civic
spectacles in commemoration of the City's Centennial Celebra-
tion; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be for
the best interest of the City of Anaheim and the citizens there-
of to appropriate funds for the promotion and advertising of
the One Hundredth Anniversary of the origin of the City of
Anaheim and to stage pageants and other civic spectacles in
commemoration of the City's Centennial Celebration; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that a great deal of
work is required to be done in the promotion, advertising and
staging of the City'S Centennial Celebration, and that the
Chamber of Commerce of the City of Anaheim is peculiarly fitted
and equipped to perform such work and render such services, and
that it would be to the advantage and best interest of the City
of Anaheim to employ the Chamber of Commerce to render said
services and to aid in the promotion, advertising and staging
of said Centennial Celebration.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Anaheim that certain sums of money to aid in
the promotion, advertising and staging of said Centennial
Celebration be appropriated and set aside for the following
purposes, and in the following amounts, to be expended during
the period commencing January 1, 1957 and ending December 31,
1951 :

For publicity advertising, historical
research and writing in staging the
Centennial Celebration, the sum of ......... $ 6,000.00
For renting of additional office space,
purchase of supplies, and employment of
extra help for the gathering and dis-
semination of information relating to
the City and its Centennial Celebration,
the sum of ................................. I 5,000.00

For writing, editing and printing of
historical books, pamphlets and litera-
ture relating to the history of Anaheim,
the sum of ......................................$ 2,000.00
For public relations and entertainment
of guests of the City in the staging of
t18Centennial Celebration, the sum of ......... $ 2.000.00
TOTAL .............. $15,000.00
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Anaheim Chamber of
Commerce be, and it is hereby, employed for the following
purposes and to render the following services:
1. Render services in the publicity advertising,
historical research and writing in staging the
CentennIal Celebration.
2. Render services in the gathering and dissemina-
tion of information relating to the City and
its Centennial Celebration.
3. Render services in the writing, editing and
printing of historical books, pamphlets and
literature relating to the history of Anaheim.
4. Render services in connection with public rela-
tions and entertainment of guests of the City
in the staging of the Centennial Celebration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the funds hereinabove
appropriated and set aside shall be paid out upon demands
presented to the City and audited by it as required by law,
and shall be supported by a statement of said Anaheim Chamber
of Commerce showing the amount of liability incurred as the
basis of said claim. That said demands shall be presented
monthly to the City Council. Any expenses in addition to
said amounts set forth herein shall be paid by said Anaheim
Chamber of Commerce.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor Pro Tem
and the City Clerk be, and they are hereby, authorized and
directed to enter into a written agreement with the Anaheim
Chamber of Commerce, a copy of which agreement, to be maqe
and entered into as of the 1st day of January, 1957, and for
the term January 1, 1957 to December 31, 1957, both dates
inclusive, has this day been submitted to the City Council,
and which agreement is, by reference, made a part hereof
as fully as if set out in full herein.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and signed by
11th day of June, 1957. ~
