A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM
AUTHORIZING THE ACTING CHIEF OF POLICE, ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY OF ANAHEIM, TO FILE AN ELECTRONIC APPLICATION WITH THE
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE, TO
PARTICIPATE IN THE "BULLETPROOF VEST PARTNERSHIP" GRANT
PROGRAM, AND AUTHORIZING THE ACTING CHIEF TO EXECUTE ALL
REQUIRED GRANT DOCUMENTS
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim desires to participate in a grant program
designated "Bulletproof Vest Partnership," funded by the U.S. Department of Justice,
Bureau of Justice Assistance, hereinafter referred to as U.S. DO J; and
WHEREAS, the "Bulletproof Vest Partnership" grant program reimburses local
law enforcement agencies up to 50% of the cost (including tax and shipping ) of ballistic
resistant vests for police officers; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anaheim wishes to submit an application to the
"Bulletproof Vest Parmership" Grant Program for the purchase of uniform, SWAT and
raid vests.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Anaheim as follows:
The Acting Chief of Police of the City of Anaheim is hereby authorized,
on behalf of the City of Anaheim, to submit an electronic application for
the "Bulletproof Vest Partnership" Grant Program for assistance with
the purchase of uniform, SWAT and raid vests, and to execute, on behalf
of the City of Anaheim, all required grant documents, including any
extensions and amendments thereof.
The City of Anaheim agrees to provide the 50% matching
funds of the overall grant award from the FY '99/00 Police Department
budget.
The grant funds awarded by the U.S. DOJ will be debited directly to the
selected vendors who will, in turn, invoice the City of Anaheim for the
remaining 50% of the purchase.
THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION is approved and adopted by the City
Council of the City of Anaheim this XTth day of August , 1999.
